Hotel Hall: When you step out of the elevator for the first time into the hall leading into your room, there is no air on, and there is a very heavy musky smell. Room: The room I had was slated for handicap access in the bathroom. There is no transition from the bathroom floor to the shower floor, and when taking a shower, all the water disperses from underneath the shower curtain onto the bathroom floor. This leaves you with a wet floor to walk out on and also track water out into the room. There was no exhaust fan working, and everything would steam up when taking a hot shower. In order to alleviate steaming up the bathroom intensely, we would leave the sliding bathroom door open, but that also allows water to be splattered all over the outside floor when showering. I also noticed that if this is meant for a handicapped person to be able to shower with ease, there is no towel rack nowhere near the shower. The shower user would have to walk across the wet floor to get a towel from the rack hanging either over the toilet or at the end of the sink. Leaves for a dangerous slip and fall situation. There was damage to the room wood floor that left exposed. Would four people potentially hurt themselves if they had no shoes on. My girlfriend's daughter did happen to hurt her foot on the exposed or damaged wood floor. Food: On the first night, we ate in the restaurant and what I ordered : steak, chicken, and chicken nuggets. The food was only warm when we bit into it. We did inform the waiter that the food was cold and they did take it back to the kitchen. When they brought it out, it was still the same temperature. The breakfast is buffet style and was not the greatest.
The staff was very friendly...
Read moreLocation: This Hampton is in a decent part of the city near some restaurants and other places to go, although the neighborhood is certainly very congested. ||- Atmosphere: It would seem that the hotel is under renovation, and the lobby and elevator waiting areas are very hot—no air conditioning whatsoever. The few fans they did have going in the lobby were not sufficient enough to cool the entire room. This put a dent in my first impression.||- Amenities: In keeping with most other Colombian Hamptons, there is a terrace, jacuzzi/pool, fitness center, restaurant/bar, and of course free breakfast and WiFi.||- Service: The folks at reception were very friendly and professional, albeit not proficient in English beyond simple phrases to check in and out. ||- Rooms: Room 414 was surprisingly insulated from outdoor sound, which was great for me as a light sleeper; not much noise could be heard from the hallways and neighboring rooms either. The beds were typical Colombian Hampton beds that were clean and comfortable for short stays. ||- Value: The affordability of this place is what separates it from the average hotel of its caliber in Latin America. I have stayed at better properties in Colombia, but the Hampton Barranquilla still holds its own among others...
Read moreI have to congratulate the personal who took care of us, night and day, Manuela in front desk, Kevin in kitchen( and all over)and Michell in breakfast, along with the rest of the staff( sorry for not remembering you guys) but they help us a lot.|even though we arrived before check-in time, my girlfriend and I were given a room from the new floor remodeled within few minutes waiting while we order a sandwich. room was nice, bed exelente, pillows and bathroom very neat; the only thing to complaint about was the last night the AC went out about 2 am and the lady in front desk offered us another room or a fan, we took the fan and she delivered by her self (because she was the only one on duty, no engineer or some one else to help her ) right away; we had also the room telephone down and they couldn't reach us when our food we ordered was ready to pick up and Kevin delivered.|It's clear that the hotel works under staff and we were witness of it, so guy of management, pay attention to it because you have great...
