I agonized over what rating to give this hotel. Singular aspects of this property are very impressive. The images already posted do enough to show the beautiful panoramic elevator, spacious rooms and nice pool. But, unfortunately there were some glaring flaws that make this hotel a poor choice for an extended stay.||When I arrived the first night, I was surprised at the beauty of the lobby and also the spaciousness of my top-floor Junior Suite (the Junior Suite is the best class, it goes "Preferential," "Standard" and "Junior Suite," which I thought was a bit confusing but that's not important." I took a shower in what I thought was a cool design. They put a tub inside the shower enclosure, so you can take a bubble bath (big enough for two) and then shower without having to cross the floor. Excellent economy of space. However, I wasn't thrilled at all with the cleanliness of the tub, and the window didn't close. Also, the glass shower door was aligned badly. The first night, I was trapped dripping wet in the shower because I couldn't jiggle the door out of place. After a couple of times, I stopped shutting the door. ||The balcony door was also misaligned, and none of the doors or windows that lead outside are watertight. It rained on one day of my trip and water started entering by the liter through the balcony door and windows. I had to request multiple extra towels just to manage the water coming into my sixth-floor hotel room.||The breakfast buffet is good, and the room service is on par with this type of property. They offer fresh juice, but it isn't made daily. If a bit is left over from the previous day, that bit is there the next day.||The one thing about my visit that really offended me was the billing. I have NEVER, in all my travels across the Americas and Europe, been asked to pay midway through. They accosted me like I was running up a bar tab on the sixth day, telling me my tab was at nearly a million pesos (about 315 USD as of exchange rate that day). I explained that they had my card on file for incidentals and that I'd pay for the rooms when I checked out (I had to make a cash deposit for the first two nights, so really it was four nights plus some minibar charges and one sandwich from room service). The whole incident upset me and led to a fight at the front desk, and I ended up begrudgingly paying. If they want long-term vacationers to pick this hotel, they should treat it more like hospitality and less like a bar tab. I was also offended that they charged me for nights I hadn't even stayed in anticipation of the fact that I wouldn't be willing to make daily payments. I seriously considered the viability of changing hotels, but for the purposes of my trip it wasn't worthwhile to do so.||This hotel is right in the center of the city, which is good for people who are here on business. It's easy to get a taxi anywhere, and you're near a lot of places like La Troja, a famous outdoor terrace and bar, and the Panaderia 20 de Julio, one of the most popular bakeries in the city. The downside of this is that no matter what, your room will always be very noisy. For an extended stay, the late nights of music and the early-morning car horns make for a difficult night's sleep. Fortunately, the mattress was firm and comfortable. For the first few nights, I had comfortable pillows. After I yelled at the front desk, they replaced my pillows with lumpy ones. Touché, Atrium. Touché.||Overall, this is not a bad hotel for someone passing through the city. If you aren't looking for the cleanest room or the best amenities and you just want a nice bed for a night or two, this hotel will serve your purposes very well. For an extended stay like mine (9 days,) the best aspect of this hotel is that the address is easy for taxistas to find. The next time I stay in Barranquilla, I think I'll give the upper-tier Dann...
Read moreJust returning home from my visit to Barranquilla and stayed 6 nights at this hotel. I had been here in the past and it was just OK. They must have changed management since my last visit here because everything seems to be different from Check in to check out. Reception desk clerks accurate and fast check in. I was lucky enough to get a room on the fourth floor, which is the floor where the swimming pool and Jacuzzi are located. That’s the place to be. The room itself is a good size and clean. Air-conditioning very good and the bed was very comfortable. The pool area is spacious and absolutely as the fotos on the website. Beautiful area for families and couples to be at the same time. A lot of space for the kids to have a great time. Jacuzzi large enough for 10 people and pool is large with a nice little sprinkler. Really nice. They have a bar area that is attended by a great bartender named Edgar. He will play the music you ask him to play and serves the drinks nice and cold. The restaurant is on the first floor and it is a very nice looking restaurant. The decoration is wonderful and they just decorated for Carnaval in the city. If you haven’t seen it before you have to get there and experience something awesome. The food in the restaurant is very good and the price is very economical for a hotel. The staff in the restaurant are all very attentive and polite, but the two that seemed to out do the others was a lady server named Lizbeth and Jessica. They were on top of the game each time I saw them. Very professional and very attentive. Great job ladies! Micheal in reception also gets a thumbs up for great service. As I travel to Colombia often I always take the time to speak with the manager of the hotel where I stay to express my thoughts, good or bad, about their hotel. This trip was no different, and the manager seemed to be everywhere throughout the hotel. I spotted her looking at the pool area, in the elevator, in the restaurant, in the lobby, and at the front desk. Seems like she works 24 hours a day. I spoke with her a couple of times and told her how pleased I was with the service at the hotel and all the other good things about the hotel that she was managing. I want to give her a special thank you for great service. Will be back here many more times and I recommend this hotel to all travelers, with or without children, its a great place for all. See...
Read moreYou should think twice before you book a stay at this hotel. I chose this hotel based upon good reviews on Booking.com and because it was in city central, thinking we could walk to different places. The neighborhood is terrible. My girlfriend was afraid to go outside of the hotel. The price I was quoted when I made the reservation was reduced by $20 before I checked in. No one speaks English so it took me an hour to get them to reduce the price. I reserved a room on a high floor, but they gave me a room on the second floor so I had to demand another room. The room I ended up with had a balcony with locked doors so you could not use. The view was the roof and the car repair shop across the street. One of the glass doors had broken glass! || The food in the restaurant is terrible, same every day with no pastries.|I ordered room service and ordered a Cesar salad with grilled chicken.. the salad did not even come close to resembling a Cesar salad. The chicken was boiled and not grilled. Next time I ordered room service I thought I would be safe and order a plain hamburger (nothing on it). I got a hamburger with everything on it but the kitchen sink! I personally took it back down to the restaurant and asked again for a plain plain hamburger. I waited about 10 minutes and they brought the same hamburger out to me. I gave it back to them and told them to take it off my bill. Went back to the room and in about 20 minutes they brought the same hamburger up to the room which I sat on the floor outside the room. When I checked out I told them to take the charge for the hamburger off of my bill. No English, of course, and they kept refusing until they went to the restaurant and confirmed that the charge was to be deleted. On my last day there (a Tuesday) I wanted to use the spa and pool, but the spa was drained and the pool was closed! And, by the way, cold shower every morning! My suggestion is to book a stay in a branded hotel away from the city center - you will be...
