Have been to Bogota several times. The problem is you either have these typical expensive international hotels - Sheraton, Hilton etc....which have no soul. Finding a nice 3 star typical hotel where the locals go can be difficult. As well some of them are in less than perfect neighborhoods (barrios) - Bogota has close to 30 neighborhoods. One of the nice ones is La Soledad, where Hotel Parkway is. On a main tree lined avenue this unassuming 3 story house holds a wonderful little hotel. There is a nice large entrance, this was obviously a private residence, where there is a large living/dining room area and a fireplace. Tucked away on the side a simple reservation desk. The immediate feeling is that of being in someone's large home.||Upstairs there are 4 good sized room - each with a very nice and clean bathroom, again you feel at home.||||The view is what is spectacular....a view of Monserrat mountain from your window and from the dining room...this 3000ft mountain is virtually part of the city. The Cathedral at the time is beautiful. The Parkway also has a beautiful closed off yard with a green lawn, flowers, gardens...the dining room where you take you breakfast ( and Colombians are known for their breakfasts) overlooks this beautiful yard. The hotel has also added a building in the back that looks like a traditional motel and house an extra 8 rooms over 2 floors. So you have the choice of staying in the main house or, if you want more privacy, the rooms in the back in the garden.||||The staff is friendly and connected to the local taxis and tourism. Finally the neighborhood is sprinkled with nice restaurants and bars...not as busy as the zona rosa, more like a nice genteel neighborhood where the locals drop in. Safe and close to downtown, the Parkway is roughly $50-60 a night, excellent value in this city of 9 million...
Read moreThis hotel has potential but right now it is basic. We booked it bacause of the location and I would stay there again for that reason. It was walking distance to all the places where I needed to go. The floors are super clean but there is nothing to absorb sound. The person at the front desk talked on speaker phone all night and we heard every word of the conversation. Around 4 am the employees started setting up for breakfast and the rattling of silverware and pans reverberated all over the building. If you bring earphones or earplugs, you should be fine. It is clean and the breakfast was...
