Lounge on the drop dead gorgeous wooden terrace overlooking the sea.|The spacious, fan-cooled rooms are spotless with a shower room open to the stars. The white sheeted bed was really comfortable. Lots of stunning wooden features literally, crafted by nature. | From the various activities on offer, we took the late afternoon Mangrove canoe trip. The wonderful Phillipe paddled us through the mangrove tunnelled waterways under the changing colours of the leafy canopy. |We were fixed on the nowness, watching the changing greens and reflections in the water. Leaving the lake, we were greeted by a dozen pelicans throwing themselves at the water trying to catch fish.| Margarita who set up the resort with her husband 8 years ago is a force of nature, intent on improving the lives and eco system of their island home. “We are trying to be as self supportive as possible she said on our arrival.Water is gold to us so please use it wisely” ( it has to be shipped in by boat) However, unlimited free tops ups of your water bottles are always available. The staff were friendly and eager.Food is simple and cooked to order as you sit under the palm-roofed dining area.|Beer,wine, cocktails and soft drinks available from the attentive staff.|Ulrike, a volunteer from Germany helping to replant the mangroves could not have done more to help us too. Always about to help and advise.|Centre Ubuntu is a real gem trailblazing tourism in a sustainable way on a beautiful island to preserve nature and allowing us to experience the real Isla Grande.|We could not recommend it more…|David...

Read moreAfter three weeks in beautiful, bustling Cartagena, we were looking for a tranquil beach experience. Ubuntu surpassed our expectations! Upon arriving on Isla Grande, we were welcomed on the dock by Carolina, the wonderful manager, who walked with us to the atmospheric outdoor dining area, where we ordered lunch while waiting for our thatched-roof hut by the beach to be ready.
The hut was enchanting, with billowing mosquito netting around the large, comfortable bed, a fan, and semi-outdoors bathroom. I'd read there were mosquitoes, but we didn't see any insects at all during our late February stay, except for a couple of butterflies.
I've never swum so much as I did from the small private beach. The clear water and many varied and brightly colored small tropical fish made for a really good snorkeling experience just steps from our accommodation.
We took the nighttime canoe trip, which I highly recommend, to a nearby mangrove to see the magical bioluminescent plankton. A boat trip for more snorkeling revealed the extent of the damage to the coral, which is bleached and ruined, and we did not see as many fish as we did by the beach near our hut.
I really admire Ubuntu's ecological foundations, the respect shown to the island and cooperation with the people living there. The food was solid, the cocktails and drinks very good. We enjoyed the company of our fellow guests, and Caroline made us feel well taken care...
