Far from Luxury at the "Luxury Beach Club" Tour I had a regrettable experience at the Luxury Beach Club Tour, which was anything but luxurious. The day began with a frustrating one-hour wait in the blazing sun to get a wristband. The check-in process was extremely inefficient, involving queuing up to enter the pier, then separately paying a harbor tax of 26,500 COP (about USD 6.90) per person – a cost not disclosed until after booking. To make matters worse, at the Luxury Counter, only one of the two staff members was working, while the other was preoccupied with his phone, making the line move at a snail's pace. And no one spoke English. We then waited another 30 minutes for the boat to leave, arriving over two hours after the scheduled meeting time. The beach was a mere 20 meters long, surrounded by neighboring beaches, leading to a cacophony of music. Swimming was far from enjoyable with the constant influx of boats, highlighted by the fuel boat arriving and turning on its loud generators – a bizarre aspect of this so-called luxury experience. No towels were provided. At the bar, where drinks were supposedly included, essentials like cola or sparkling water were missing, resulting in tasteless mojitos. The all-inclusive drinks turned into a debate every time I tried to get a drink for my companion, with the expectation being that each person should queue individually. Booking a bed was a waste unless you're lucky to get one in the front rows. Otherwise, you might end up near the toilets, far from the beach. The normal loungers were a better choice. The non-adjustable sun umbrellas left us exposed to direct sunlight. The buffet lunch was another letdown. It opened 10 minutes late and closed precisely on time, serving only one piece of meat and fish per person. The food distribution felt like a prison, with announcements and strict limits. The only edible part was the main course – the soup was just a collection of fish bones. Overall, this tour was a huge disappointment and definitely not worth the money. It seemed like a pure profit-making scheme with mostly rude treatment. Beware of the numerous 5-star reviews from local guides and travel agencies – they don't seem to be based on genuine experiences.

Beach Club: 4* spring break vibes, sandwiched between 2 other beach clubs Eco Hotel: 1* not eco, not luxury hotel Staff: 5* each person we encountered was kind and helpful Ok- this is a beach club, a crazy loud in your face fun beach club from 9:30 am until 2:45pm. DJ thumping, drinks flowing, bikinis and bodies everywhere. On either side is 2 other clubs with competing DJs. Spring break party vibes. If you’re looking at the EcoHotel that is also advertised— move along. Villa Island Rosario Eco Hotel and Beach Club is a no go for families, older folks looking for a relaxed vibe or anyone interested in enjoying the island. There are other places to stay over night on the island and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this one. We were the only guests most nights- I booked 3. TBH the hotel feels a bit like a bait and switch. Many things aren’t disclosed to you until after you check in and then they can change hours if they want. We were on the island to scuba dive and thank goodness, I only sat around here during the day one day. Absolutely not me or my families vibe. Shame on me for looking at the reviews and thinking it was a hotel. Do your research. No wifi. No shampoo (until night 3). No conditioner. No body wash. Limited towels. Not luxury. No bar from 3-6. which is absolutely fine except if you need water. No fresh, filtered or bottled water available to overnight guests. Insanely limited menu at dinner, like 4 items. I recommend venturing away from the hotel and finding a restaurant outside of the club. Why 2 stars? The staff is great. Kind, overworked and undoubtably underpaid but are really nice to the guests and do the service with a smile. Incredibly quiet at night. If you want solitude or to spend time with a special someone, the evenings here are good for that. If you want your own private place with a group of friends? Probably an ok option too. One night tops would probably do it though.

Do NOT go — I left with chemical burns, blisters, and a serious skin infection. I visited this beach club with my girlfriend and left with chemical burns, oozing blisters, and a bacterial skin infection, confirmed by a doctor in Cartagena. The most likely cause: harsh cleaning products used on the daybeds, lounge chairs, or boat equipment. After developing painful red marks and blisters on my thighs and hand, I had to seek urgent medical care. I was treated with a steroid injection, antibiotics, antihistamines, and burn creams, and instructed to stay out of the sun, avoid alcohol, and stay in air conditioning for five days — completely ruining what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I’m here to be the best man at my best friend’s wedding, and instead I’ve been stuck inside in pain, missing everything. The treatment has cost me over 1,180,000 COP ($400+ CAD) out of pocket. I reached out to Luxury Beach Club directly to explain what happened, but have not heard back. This experience was not just disappointing — it was dangerous. Avoid this place at all costs. No one should leave a beach club with medical trauma and zero accountability.

This place is simply way too expensive. Paid about 450$ juste for three nights, and the politics of this hotel are ridiculous…

During the day, they have day-trips coming in on the beach from 9 to 3pm. As a person actually staying at the hotel, you get less the these people that come on a day trip.

The first day we asked for a cocktail menu and the waiter said they had none, then the last day we found out they had a cocktail menu because someone that was staying there just for a day trip told us.

The food is ok, they tell you not to eat anywhere else on the island but some other hotels have very nkce restaurants with nice plates for half the price.

They have no drinkable water on the island yet they only sell you 300mL bottle for 6000 when a restaurant near by sells his 1L bottles 3000…

Everytime someone writes a bad comment, the company answers saying they are 40km away from land… We visited other hotels for half the price and they had a lot of things this hotel doesnt.

Btw the water is a lot better on the other side of the island, it is crystal clear.

Here are a few other things that make me never wanna come back here: The first night they tried to make us pay twice the sane bill. One of the staff members offered my boyfriend cigarettes for 20000 (10 cigarios) cause he was going to run out instead of just letting us know there was a market on the island that sold them for way cheaper.. The last day we were waiting for the boat to leave, we decided to sit on the beach and the next thing you know the staffs tells us we cannot sit on the hotel chairs on the beach cause they’re reserved for the daily guests?… When the daily guests leave (3pm), the atmosphere changes from party to abandonned place! they run out of a few things so not much left for the guests that sleep there. One staff member was just sleeping on the beach beds? First night we had supper, they had no place to sit us to eat? They had one table and the other guests took it so they winged us a table between two room doors… Breakfast is from 7:30-8:30… no possible way to sleep in, and no choices, same thing every day. A few things in the room were fallong apart. The bathroom door wasn’t sliding shut, the patio doors didnt lock and we were ground level? The bed board fell if you just touched lt with your head while sleeping…

I understand that these kind of things happen, that nothing is perfect but please, if you charge 150$ CAD a night, make it worth it. Or just bring your price down. We literally felt like we’ve been robbed.

A big thank you anyway to Diego who « saved the night » by trying to make our stay good even though all of the bad things...

If you are looking to be deceived and disappointed even with low expectations, then you've come to the right place.

First off, if you are worried about COVID, then this is the last place on earth you will want to be. The workers on the island from start to finish DID NOT wear masks or practice social distancing.

And if you are looking for REAL luxury, this place is not the place, by any stretch of the imagination. Just to name a few, everyone shares one bathroom/shower, the beds come with one pillow and no bedding besides a fitted sheet, you get a small bar soap for showering / 1 towel per person, there is only outdoor dining which is infested with mosquitoes, there are wild dogs that run around the entire property and beg for food. And not to mention for a one-person entree it's roughly $40,000 - $50,000 COP (since zero food is included), plus they don't have any tap water available, only a small bottle of water for $5,000 COP each.

Apart from the lack of luxury experience, the WiFi that they advertise DOES NOT work! Don't expect to get any cell phone service either.

Additionally, we could not pay with our credit card for the rest of our reservation - which didn't allow me to protect my purchase under Chase Sapphire Reserve. They forced us to run to an ATM and pay cash, and on top of that, the company charged us an interest fee for paying with cash. So we help you avoid the credit card processing fees and then you charge us more? That doesn't seem fair.

We ended up leaving early due to the very deceptive and disappointing experience. Manuel and Pedro were very nice to us, but the other workers straight up begged us for a tip. It appeared that the management of the company does not only treat their guests with deceitfulness and deception but also treats their employees with immoral standards.

As a digital nomad and world traveler for 3+ years, this has been a top-3 worst experience. Learn from our mistake and avoid this disastrous pitfall yourself - instead do a day trip and...
