This is in a key place for the major sites in this area, namely Pan de Azucar and Lagunillas and the Valle de los Frailejones. It's at 3,900 metres so a good place to acclimatise, and can be used as a base for day hikes.||||The place itself is warm and welcoming, considerably less basic than I was expecting, and the rooms are good - nice beds/bunks with cheery orange bedding and an airy dining area. The food is excellent. We ate considerably better here than in Guican due to a nifty use of herbs and spices and portions are generous.||||Brace yourself for those showers though. You might think you've had cold showers before but this water's straight off the mountainside. I had the ill-advised idea of washing my hair and nearly passed out with the experience.||||That aside, this is a great place and one I'd highly recommend in this area. We had a bit of difficulty tracking down the contact details for this place so here they are: ||tel: 31 43 258 342 (landline) 311 236 42 75...

After all, it is a mountain hut, so don't expect too much. It can be...
