The hostel is super great with rooms very comfortable and super clean, with private bathroom. And the price is very affordable in comparison to other places in Colombia (good for backpacker's budget). ||The atmosphere is great with Alfredo and Martha making your stay as comfortable as you want. The terasse allows to watch night sunset on the Covuy's valley.||The breakfast is awesome, both consistent and delicious.||How not to underline that it is the perfect place where to stay to both enjoy the city at night and to organize one to three of the treks allowed in the Park with Alfredo and Martha (both guides and who know also other competent guides). They are offering transportation, guide service, and will make the permit and insurance registration a formality. The price is much less than the one of other parks such as the Nevados. ||||In short : a great place to stay and from where to organize treks on one, two or the three trails offered by the PNN. This place has just opened this year but would be soon in the toursist...
Read moreReally nice hostel to stay in El Cocuy:||* Super friendly staff, willing to help the guests with everything they have to arrange in El Cocuy: organising the hikes, help with arranging the guides, the Insurance, entrance fee etc.||* Perfect location close to the central square in El Cocuy||* Really good breakfast as well||* Nice and comfortable rooms, always clean as well||||The biggest plus for this hostel is the helpfullness of the staff, especially the owner Marta. She is really nice to talk with and is pro-active in helping you arranging everything needed in El Cocuy, which at first seems quite complicated.. I got some problems with my hiking shoe as well, and she adviced me a good shoemaker. This person, who appeared to be her father, fixed my shoes really good so that I was able to use them for the hikes later on my trip. Would strongly advice this hostel...
Read moreBest choice for foreigners solo traveling to find others to share hikes with. Everything you need for a stay of 2 nights or even a week. If you have strong stomach and nerves to handle the approach roads and the time Cocuy has wonderful full day hikes if you acclimate. You need a full day each for coming and going plus a day for arranging your hikes as the park has many complicated steps to be able to hike. This hostal can help with some of that. Unfortunately most of the park is still closed. The town has simple fast foods and minimal meals. So kitchen here for cooking is an option. Most rooms are private but I saw one 3 bed dorm too. On site price is lower than website. So call ahead. If you do overnight buses I doubt you can sleep well. Very curvy small slow highway. Scenery is better for day...
