Hotel 36 View Cabecera — Hotel in Bucaramanga

This is a great Colombian-style hotel whose owners are very helpful, warm, and welcoming. ||||I stayed in Hotel 36 View for 6 nights while organizing the details of my wedding in nearby Barichara. The hotel is perfectly located, as most of my vendors were nearby in Cabecera, which is a stylish and safe neighborhood. I was also able to walk a short distance to restaurants/bars, beauty salons, shopping centers, ice cream/juice places, and other fun stores. When vendors (hair/makeup artists) came to the hotel to meet, they easily parked their car in the hotel's garage and we met in the inner courtyard, which was very convenient. ||||Mendoza, the owner, speaks English and called a taxi for me on the mornings I requested them, which was very helpful. ||||There is also air conditioning in the room, which was a nice surprise, as I wasn't expecting it and didn't check when booking.||||Like most warm weather places in Colombia, there are mosquitoes, so bring your repellent! I was very happy to see that the small bathroom windows had mosquito nets on them, that's something most places in Colombia would definitely not think of including.||FYI, I learned from friends that the Zika virus is mostly occurring near the coast (as of March 2016), so luckily I didn't have to stress about this during my stay.||The bed is also hard as rock, but that is something I've encountered in numerous Colombian hotels and am beginning to think it's a cultural preference to have hard beds.||||I plan to come back here in July right before the wedding with my parents to work on last minute wedding details, wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bucaramanga now that I've found this place! The staff are so friendly that you will be treated with extra care. This is a convenient place to get some sleep and have a shower. It serves your practical needs. I wasn’t a fan of the breakfast and they serve Nescafé, not the good stuff. My room could have been cleaned more thoroughly since there were a couple spots they had missed. But it wasn’t a problem. The cool thing is that if I had mentioned it to the staff or the manager, I believe they would have been extremely helpful. Likewise, I probably could have requested something else for breakfast. Me habían dicho que el hotel era bueno pero no fue lo que encontré. A pesar de la muy buena atención en recepción, las habitaciones son extremadamente básicas para lo que cobran (cerca de 29 dólares): no hay armario, hay un olor a aromatizante barato, habitación oscura y sin ventilación; se nota que no hay un mantenimiento adecuado y que lo que se daña no lo reparan prontamente. ||||En cuanto al desayuno, fue el peor momento: a pesar de que el comedor estaba absolutamente vacío, tuve que esperar casi 15 minutos para que alguien tomara la orden y 10 minutos más para que la trajeran -incompleta-, por lo cual el resto del desayuno terminaron llevándomelo a la habitación pues tenía que alistar todo para salir. La empleada no usa ningún implemento requerido: ni cofia, ni delantal, ni tapa-bocas. Tampoco hay fruta y todos los días sirven lo mismo. Los manteles son sucios, la comida tibia o fría y mal presentada. Además, mientras uno espera pacientemente a que sirvan el desayuno, decenas de zancudos hambrientos se lanzan sobre uno para devorarlo. Lo mismo sucede en las habitaciones.||||Por último, no reciben ningún tipo de tarjeta: ni débito ni crédito, de manera que tuve que salir a buscar un cajero para traer efectivo y pagar. Sin recibir factura.||||Al regresar a mi ciudad, le agradecí a quien me había recomendado el hotel pero que allá no volvería y le di las razones; me contestó, ah es cierto, hay muchos zancudos, el desayuno es demorado, el ambiente es sucio y las habitaciones sin luz ni aire; pero queda en una avenida principal y cerca a un centro comercial. ||||Por eso, pienso que si las prioridades no son esas (estar en una avenida y cerca a un centro comercial), es mejor escoger otro hotel, por el mismo costo pero con condiciones más...
