I felt judged and overly supervised by the uptight manager (he's almost assuredly the owner). Overall, the hotel is nice. The pool is clean, the rooms are clean, but small and hot. They are hot due to the optional air conditioning. I requested air conditioning and was charged $25 for 2 days. When I commented that it's expensive, the manager said it was due to their high electricity bill. Guests should not suffer due to the poverty of the owner; if you can't afford A/C for guests, don't run a hotel in hot territory. After less than 2 hours using the AC, I gave the remote back to the guy and said we changed our mind. Instead of refunding the entire amount he charged me for a whole day of use and refunded only a single day. I did not argue due to his sob story about not being able to afford electricity. I consider it a donation. The second reason for this negative review is the "American style breakfast." It was literally just poorly scrambled eggs. Served with toasted sliced bread and jam instead of arepa. I guess that's the American part? I happen to be American. Our hotel breakfasts consist of a buffet where one can choose bacon, sausage, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc.. I was SO ready for an American style breakfast then to be handed poorly cooked scrambled eggs and toast was a huge letdown. The third reason for this negative review is that my fiancè and I had an argument one night and got loud. Instead of knocking on our door and handling it directly, this dude calls the person in our group who booked our stay for all 17 of us, as if she's our mom, or like she paid for all 17 of us. He was literally standing less than 100 feet from our door. This is a "just ok" place whose atmosphere is ruined by the snooty manager. There are better options where you will feel relaxed and more in that beachy, party vibe we expect when we travel to a beachside town. The real easy way to tell this dude has a bad attitude is the way he reacts to negative reviews. Every opportunity to speak on behalf of your place ought to be used to promote it, not to argue with the guest you've...
Read moreA cliche nightmare. You know the kind- bad vibes with dirty looking pool. A single depressed guest and nobody else around but staff. This was Nibuni. Owner- a mean old guy that disrespected my girlfriend.
Rude from the beginning of check in. Turned aggressive after saying he heard wine bottles in our bag?! Apparently their policy (wasn’t aware) involves no outside beverages unless you agree to pay a fine upfront. That’s fine but this guy lacked manners and empathy. We didn’t want to stay after that and he refunded our money knowing there’d be more problems.
Also worth mentioning he has 2 dogs. One of them is fine but other is large growling at guests. Seemed a bit dangerous. We canceled and went to hostel next door. Palomino has a few of these rude entitled owners. Guess it’s due to a growing popularity of the area. What’s funny is the place looked absolutely empty on a weekend. That should tell you...
Read more😊: We had a wonderful stay here, super relaxed. The owner and his staff are just amazing and lovely! They helped us with all the requests we had. The place is very quiet but super central as well, amazingly clean despite all the sand and just great. The breakfast is really delicious and they take care of your preferences! Here you're surrounded by just wonderful great vibes. We liked it so much that we prolonged our stay for several days. We would always come back and will recommend this site, which became our Palomino home, to everyone who's going to visit Palomino.. 😢: There's really not even a little thing we didn't like except the fact that we had to leave at...
