Welcome to the Cat Hostel. Cats in every bed all the time, so if you’re a lonely cat person, this is a place for you, you absolute nut job. If you go in the pool you won’t be able to see your feet, which is worrying. I’m pretty sure I saw several people disappear into the pool. Floors in the shower and bathroom-area are chronically submerged under water, this is because they follow a strict policy of never cleaning any drains, so if you shower for more than 3 seconds, you will be solely responsible for flooding the town of Palomino, displacing hundreds of European dreadlock enthusiasts. Now where are they supposed to get their mushrooms? International crisis ensues, and you are now forced to materialise emergency services to the rastafaris.
The hostel uses an unorthodox approach to screening the reception staff here - normally service minded people would be hired, but here you can only be hired if you insist on keeping the hostel secrets to yourself, secrets include but are not limited to; secret bathroom locations secret laundry service whether or not you’ll be provided a wristband granting you access to the hostel
So you will have to navigate through the property solving these mysteries, all whilst still running the emergency aid operations helping the displaced rastafaris. The bar has no vibe what so ever, so you might as well pop open a bottle of water and sing your national anthem entirely on your own, as this would least create the illusion that you participated in some kind of hostel activity. Mosquito nets on the beds have holes in them, and thank god for that, how else would you be able to breathe during the all-night mosquito fight you’re about to engage in.
Some of the staff is nice, including the cool bartenders. Here is a picture of a cat on a bed. The girl who had the bed had to relocate her sleeping arrangement to the pool. Also I met some cool people there. And I would recommend the place if you have no other option, and if you have secured capital to fund the emergency aid which you will be responsible for for the rest...
Read moreHonestly one of the best hostels I have been in so far. It is beautifully small in a way, that it has the perfect size. It is big enough, so you can meet new people everyday (if you want of course), but at the same time small enough, so you don't get lost in the crowd completely.||Spent 2 weeks there, because I loved it so much and traveled solo. The location is very good. You are right in between the main street and the beach, so everything is close.||Breakfast is included and always an option between 3 things, but it is very good. After 2 weeks, I went out sometimes to get something different from time to time, but it is plenty.||The beach volleyball court is a big plus as well. We played most evenings around 4 p.m. a couple of games.||The Coworking space is amazing. I have looked around quite a bit in Palomino and this is by far the best one. Great internet, very quiet, well spaced and with AC (and boy did we need it). Even when the power was down in the whole town, we still had internet thanks to the generator!||El Zoo is just a really amazing place with an amazing crowd. You can just tell, that it draws a very cool type of people. You don't really a lot of "wanna influencers" like in Selinas. Just a lot of interested and interesting people, mostly on longer travels and just looking for a few days to relax and having a good time. ||It was the most social and welcoming hostel I have been to.||A very very big reason for that is also the staff. I basically fell in love with EVERYBODY there. From the lovely ladies at the reception, the amazing breakfast ladies, the maintenance and cleaning team up to the guys in the restaurant and even the owners!||The owners are something I would really like to mention, because this is not just yet another hostel run by big corporate or european/american owners, but by 2 brothers from Colombia, who pour their heart and soul into it! And you can really tell! This is something definitely worth supporting!||Thank you all so much for this amazing time with you! I will...
