I’m very sad to share that I didn’t have a pleasant experience here. I was actually planning on leaving a good review before leaving Palomino. I’ve been eating here everyday since I arrived a week ago. The food is generally good, and the atmosphere seemed nice. Until today. My friend and I ordered two coffee tartes for dessert. When it arrived we kept on chatting and I started eating. I realised after the second bite that it wasn’t a coffee tarte but a mango tarte. Confused we told the waitress about our findings. She told us that she had understood we wanted mango tarte, but we were certain we didn’t ask for that. A simple misunderstanding, can happen with language barrier. She took our plates but came back saying that it wasn’t possible to change the tarte I already started on. I resisted this since it wasn’t our mistake and I only realized later that we had received the wrong ones, since we just trusted on receiving the ones we asked for. When I saw the owner I told her about our problem, since she did speak English and I trusted on her solving this issue. It’s quite an expensive restaurant and we had been there 7 times already, so we were loyal customers, and always tipped. Usually this would’ve been an issue resolved quickly (in my experience). But right away she got super rude saying that, because I took a bite, it wasn’t possible to change it. Also, it didn’t seem like she believed me when I said we hadn’t order it. We think the waitress might have been too scared to admit her mistake or misunderstanding (for the first time she didn’t ask if we wanted to tip and took the service amount off of the bill straight away when we paid). We got into a heated discussion and eventually she took away the mango tarte and we didn’t have to pay for it, but she left us in shock about the way we were treated. The entire time I stayed calm and polite, but didn’t receive the same treatment. It was an honest misunderstanding due to language barrier (my guess), but why make such a scene and a big deal over something so small? Casa Cocotte was our favorite restaurant up until this point, and we probably literally would’ve kept eating there for the remaining two weeks, but we felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome after this that unfortunately we won’t enter this place anymore. I don’t understand why you would treat your (regular)...
Read moreThe place was highly recommended but it was a bad experience. As a person who has a shellfish allergy (a very common allergy, not as though it’s something unique) I read menus very carefully to ensure that what I’m consuming won’t kill me. Over the years I have ordered salmon at all sorts of places around Colombia, again, always being sure to ensure that the menu doesn’t say anything about crustaceans. On this particular night, which was also my husband’s birthday, I ordered the salmon from the menu and upon the bite passing my lips, I started to get the tingling sensation that warns of an allergic reaction. I asked the server if the dish was prepared with crustaceans of any kind and he returned saying that it was cooked in a shrimp base. I told him I couldn’t eat this it’s because of my allergy. And he proceeded to tell me that it was basically my fault because I hadn’t told him I had an allergy. He told me that he would be happy to place another order for me but that I would be made to pay for both plates. I declined and just asked for the bill while my husband tried to make it through his meal which was essentially three tiny overcooked crawfish. Upon paying my bill, the owner of the restaurant also tried to make me feel bad about not letting them know about the allergy, and saying it was basically my fault this happened to me because they use shrimp base for everything - again, SOMETHING NOT LISTED ANYWHERE ON THEIR MENU or asked about as a courtesy. As I was closing out she had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to include a tip. Hah! The thing that bothered me most is that either the server you are the owner ever said to me once, “I’m sorry we had no idea terrible situation, blah blah,” they just tried to make ME feel bad about it all. We could’ve chalked this all up to a misunderstanding and found an easy solution…but how they came at me was tacky and...
Read moreOne of the finest in Palomino. Review after multiple visits over a period of 6 months. Highlight - Daily menú.
Price for two - COP 100000 including cocktails.
Casa Cocotte has to be my favourite place to eat in Palomino. I have always left satisfied and a little tipsy from this place 😬
Food - There is a changing menú every day. The menu has 3-4 options each with the starters, main course and desserts, out of which one option is always for vegans. I have tried a wide variety of dishes here and I've always been super happy. The portions are generous and are plated well. The dishes are well made. I never had a disappointing dish here.
Drinks - They have a good selection of juices, mocktails & cocktails on offer. I've always enjoyed their cocktails and they never skimp on the amount of alcohol, which means I've always walked out a little tipsy from my usual three gin tonics.
Service - The service is crisp and efficient. Never have I been served the wrong order. You are received well, seated at a clean table, offered water to drink and the menu of the day is well explained to you. The team really does a good job.
Ambience - I've always enjoyed the ambience here. There's good music playing at the right volume. The tables are arranged well and not cramped together. There are 3-4 different areas you could choose to be seated in.
Overall I like to go back to this place again and again because of the consistency. I would recommend you call and make a reservation because the place can get filled up...
