This has to be the most shocking experience I have faced in any single country I have ever travelled to. The hotel itself advertises themselves as having wifi in ALL spaces which is simply not true. It does NOT have wifi in the rooms according to some of the workers there. When my partner first raised this issue the night that I got in I was told that the wifi was down because of the weather as it was raining that night. The next morning there was no wifi so I went to reception who said there was only wifi in the communal areas which then they followed by saying it will work in the rooms if I have a Samsung which in itself if contradictory. We went back and forth on this as no one was telling me a concrete answer. Essentially, they lied as they were just saying things with no basis. This is a managerial issue, however, we were denied for an hour to speak to anyone with real authority which I believe to be highly unprofessional. There was continuous contradictions with what they were saying regarding the wifi and the manager situation. The reception tried to help which we do appreciate but the rooms were subpar compared to what we originally paid for. The offered room was next to the road in the parking lot. It was half the size of the original room. Both these options are not suitable which was known by everyone. Again, it felt like we were being lied to as everyone said different things. After an hour and a half, constantly pushing to speak to the manager we called. The fact that there is not a manager on sight every day is unacceptable from a hotel. The manager expressed that apparently there is wifi across all the hotel but it does not work sometimes with the latest iPhones but my partner and I don’t have the latest iPhones so the relevancy and accuracy is to be questioned. Through the conversation, I didn’t feel valued or understood as a costumer. The manager gave us a choice of refunding the two nights that we hadn’t taken (we booked 3) but we believed it was unreasonable considering the clear false advertisement regarding the situation. The services offered were not completed. After having a discussion, he agreed to return everything except the provided dinner and breakfast. The dinner consisted of rice with soup microwaved in front of us. A microwaved soup. For this and the breakfast we were going to be charged 100,000 COP. I explained that nowhere would charge you that much for that quality of food. After a long conversation, he came to the agreement that I should pay what I believe that we got. As much as I appreciate it, this is not a professional response and made me feel bad which I think was the intended outcomes of his response. For our refund, the proof of refund looked unprofessional and unsubstantial. We asked for them to fix it adding addresses, dates, the signatures of accountancy and manger as they are both responsible for the process according to them, and letter heads. The reluctancy was quite concerning. They had to draft the paper 3 times because it looked unprofessional and even missing C.C numbers which here in Colombia are important. At first they only gave me the managers electronic signature and when the accountant was getting bothered, which I have no idea why as it’s not her money, she came in and tried to sign it with a pen. Where’s the professionalism? I explained to her I wanted it printed and she scrunched up the paper and threw it in the bin. When she brought it back, it was missing her C.C number which is important in Colombia. She didn’t bother to look at me, screwed her face and said ‘ay niña..’ In what world is it acceptable to speak to someone like that especially when you have an important position within the hotel? This really was extremely rude. This started with tedious lies which displayed great unprofessionalism from the staff. I appreciated that they worked with us but the attitudes were inadequate for the service industry. I apologised and said I don’t want trouble because I don’t like confrontation. I was made to feel like I was the issue and...
Read moreThe treatment we experienced in this hotel was absolutely abysmal. The price for this hotel was on the high end for Colombia and so we believed that the service we received would reflect this price but we felt like the staff made it their mission to mistreat and belittle us. Luckily we all spoke spanish otherwise i can’t imagine how we would’ve felt having to continuously explain that the wifi wasn’t working or that the prices for the food were simply inadequate for what we were given. The service here is simply poor and the hotel is a stain on the culinary heritage of colombia. Moreover, the amazing hospitality we received across our trip to Colombia was nowhere to be seen at this hotel, we were made to feel in the wrong simply for informing the staff that the wifi in our rooms wasn’t working (even though they claim it works in every room). The staff kept disregarding us and it took hours before senior management became involved and when they did they essentially told us that we were wrong and in the end we received no resolution to our problem and walked away feeling belittled. Save your money and don’t...
Read moreWe were very excited about visiting this hotel, given the reviews. Now I wonder if most reviews are from friends of the owners. Given the very high pricing for Colombia, we imagined this was going to be a great experience. We paid an average of US$125 a night and did not get much from it. The hotel is old and basic. Rooms have no air conditioning, which you need during the day, didn't have appropriate blackouts so ithe sun was in your face at 6AM. Terrible water pressure and not even a bar of soap. Wifi only worked at the lobby for most of our stay, before miraculously working in the room on our last day. The room should have costed $40-$50, not $100+ Lunch at the restaurant was the worst meal we had in our whole trip and one of the most expensive. A lady at the Front desk was super unfriendly and snapped at me when I asked for a hammock to be placed on our balcony (all the other rooms had them) Esentially, a disaster of a stay and I recommend you avoid staying at...
