What better can you ask for on a Caribbean vacation.||||Yes, this is not a luxury resort. It's Providencia, though. If you are headed to Providencia, you should be expecting rustic and undeveloped. This hotel was basic, but served our needs. It's not so much about spending time sitting in your room here, anyway.||||This hotel is directly on the beach, with four rooms facing the sea and a few more facing into a courtyard area. It's about the best beachfront you can expect in Providencia right now, as many beach areas have suffered from very bad erosion. There is a small wooden deck with loungers for sunbathing and it is an outstanding place to sit with a book and a beer.||||This is one of the few hotels on the island with hot water. Don't get super excited about it, though. The water heater was broken when we were there and we had to speculate about whether it was repaired because the difference between hot and cold was barely noticeable.||||The overall location can be either a plus or minus, depending on what you want. Some of the island's best restaurants are on this stretch of beach, but they close around 4-5 pm. There is a restaurant on the main road that is a fairly easy walk and has good food, but other than a few tiny family-run restaurants, that's the only place open after dark. The larger selection is down the road about a mile in Agua Dulce. If you have a golfcart or are comfortable riding a moto, this is a perfect location to stay and then just venture into Agua Dulce or the larger town when you need to. If you don't have reliable transportation during your stay, you should stock up on cash before heading out to Southwest Bay, as the only ATMs are in the main town and very few smaller restaurants...
Read moreI have no idea why this small family run hotel is linked to Decameron. In my humble view this place is awesome on its own and doesn’t need the Decameron affiliation. It’s not a luxury hotel at all but it is so awesome and the staff is incredibly nice. ||||The owner is a quiet man who’s there in the mornings. Didn’t realize he was the owner till the last day of 4 nights. On the last day he took me on his motorcycle to Agua Dulce so that I could rent a cart and go around the island. ||||Breakfast consists of made to order eggs, bread or arepa (the coconut bread is incredible), fruit and fresh juice. At night the kitchen is operated by a non affiliated restaurant whose chef is really good. A short walk along the beach are a few restaurants right on the shore including Divino Niño which is featured on some guidebooks. ||||The guys I dove with (Sonny’s) asked me to stay closer next time (I was 5 minutes away by motorcycle) and I said no way, I’m staying at Miss Mary’s again. ||||Anyhow this place has about 10 room and if you can get it be of the 5 looking out to the water you’ll be in heaven. The place has A/C, TV and a minibar with very very fair prices. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room cleaned very nicely every day. WiFi is available and if it’s not on just ask them to...
Read moreDecameron: ||We were very disappointed from Decameron. We though this packages is a all inclusive package. As we booked it online (there is only a small note in terms and conditions at the end of the page that this hotel is not an all inclusive hotel. On the mainpage and also under the hotel information was no hint to that), we cross up some errors. Therefore we booked it by telephone. There was also nobody during the call saying to us that this hotel is not an all inclusive one. As we contacted decameron, they were only saying to us we should read the terms and conditions before we book. I am sorry but that is not customer friendly at all. We would never book again a Decameron all inclusive Hotels and Resorts (this name is absolutely wrong) again. ||||The hotel was ok. Staff was more or less friendly, the rooms very basic but okay. No wifi, but for us not very important. The restaurant (during lunch and dinner not run by the hotel)...
