Writing this review gives me no joy as I don't want to impact the business of anyone in anyway and be as encouraging as possible. But I rely on reviews of others before booking hotels so I benefit from reviews of others and I want to try my best to objectively provide my feedback and help others.
The moment we arrived, we were tired from a long flight but the owner sat us down immediately, took 30 minutes to explain how he likes us to use the apartment. Not a perfect time and it could have been done at another time or he could have sent us a text.
The owner knocks on the door interrupting us multiple times throughout the 3 days we were there. It was unnecessary, uninvited and a simple text could have been fine.
The toilet broke, which happens and I don't blame anyone. The owner then questions me saying that it was just working fine earlier. Where's the logic in that? We expect service from a hotelier, not an interrogation.
While departing, I asked for extra 30 minutes or maybe just extra 15 minutes. His answer was a hard no. Sometimes it's the way you say, not what you say that matters. He could have spared us a few minutes. It's his perogative but I don't appreciate the tone of his voice and his demeanor. I have been nothing but very respectful towards him throughout as I support small business owners who work really hard.
While departing, the owner tells me that I can't leave until he inspects the room. Which is fine.
The good things: WIFI was decent in the bedrooms. The small patio is beautiful. 10 minutes to the beach. Kitchen is good with a gas range, a microwave and a sink. Spacious living space. Patio is excellent.
The location is not ideal as no services are available after 9pm like restaurants or small shops which are 10 minutes away are all closed. If the weather is bad, the beach is no good and there's nothing to do. Accommodations in downtown are more convenient.
I will not be coming back and I advise people to instead look for an Airbnb...
Read moreI wasbt happy at all with the place I had booked in advance on trip advisor. I know my standards are high but when I'm not happy with accommodation, mo matter how beautiful the place,I really struggle.||||After two days at my booked place though, thankfully I found an amazing place to stay called Haynes cay view, just perfect. For the price I paid it is excellent value and spotless, cannot fault it. It is run by Terence and dalia a lovely couple who also speak great English if you don't speak Spanish. Spotless, brand new literally, great shower pressure, brand new beds, fully fitted kitchen with breakfast provided in the fridge, cleaned daily but best of all the service and the view. It is on the waterfront, you can see the water from your bed. A great communal patio to meet other guests if you would like or to talk to Terence and dalia. Intelligent, professional couple. They have a boat for daytrip and right opposite there is a lovely island called acuario, lots of people but it is stunning. Also check out Johnny cay and Cayo Bolivar but I didn't get time for the latter. There is a beach called rocky cay closeby with a Decameron resort, pay only 45,000 COP to eat and drink what you would like all day and have access to shower and toilet abd sun beds etc. Bargain. Haynes cay view need to be number 1 for San Andres and trust me on the ground I checked out a lot of places after I wasbt happy with the first!||||It's such a shame they don't have a website as they are that new but if you need their details...
Read moreOur family of 4 (two adults and two children) stayed two nights in a two-bedroom flat at Haynes Cay View in August 2022. What a gem! We stayed on the top floor, our room had a balcony with view to the sea. The apartment had all we needed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen whilst small had all we needed. The living room had a TV with international channels. The wifi works well. Why stay in a fancy hotel when you can stay with a wonderful local host who also offers tours to visit islands in his private small yacht? We were spoiled by Terence who took us to the Acuario, the mangroves and small islands were we swam in the crystal clear waters. He is a wonderful host. I will always remember him for his hospitality and his wonderful place. Loved everything. Some of the pics don't do the place justice. Good luck to Terence...
