Muri Retreat — Hotel in Ngatangiia

Our 2nd time in the beautiful Muri Retreat, and it never disappoints. Thanks Simon and family for having us again! It really is our home away from home and thank you for the warm welcome and reception upon arrival and transfer from the airport to Muri Retreat. The accommodation was spotless and vibrant as always. Its also great to see the improvements the team have made in adding signages around the property and also the health and safety element to the pools e.g. depth of pool signage and pool use conditions. Muri Retreat provides us with privacy that major resorts might be able to. You can swim in the pool all day long if you wanted. Cooking area is available, plenty of beach/pool furniture to get your tan on, easy to read signage on the main road for the retreat. If you are fitness freak, theres a long driveway you can walk or run up and down on. A clean and tidy Toyota Vitz is available to hire at an affordable rate which comes cheaper than any major vehicle hiring company on the island after fees and insurance etc. There is no need to worry about the heat, the rooms are kitted out with 8 speed ceiling fans that will do as good of a job as an aircon. A most relaxing stay in a slice of paradise. Simon and Denise were exceptional hosts and made my stay as comfortable as possible. Simon was exceptionally patient and waited at the airport after our flight was delayed leaving NZ, for a considerable amount of time. He made sure that I knew where everything was and how things worked back at the apartment, and the pick up time to the airport was very clearly communicated. The Kukupa studio is beautifully appointed and it was very clean and tidy. The views from the private deck are magnificent and it is an easy walk down to the heart of Muri. It was unusually humid even for the locals, during the week I stayed (23-30 March 2024) which made the walk down and up the hill tiring at times, but this is easily remedied by hiring an e-bike, scooter or Simon's on-site vehicle, at very reasonable prices. Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Muri Beach Retreat! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beautiful Muri Beach.

The apartment was just what we needed—spotlessly clean, a comfy 1-bedroom space with a full kitchen, so I could easily cook meals if I wanted to!! Super relaxed and comfortable, with a large outdoor area that was all ours. A bonus was a large selection of movies to choose from.

The hosts Simon & Denise were fantastic—really kind & friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. They even arranged airport transfers, were always happy to help with anything.

If you’re looking for a chill, easygoing place to stay in Rarotonga, this is it! Close to everything that we needed, peaceful and private. Highly recommend!
