Favorite hotel by far; the rooms have gorgeous views no matter where you're staying and the food they make at the hotel is amazing as well, always made from scratch, fresh juices, amazing dessert, and so much more! Be sure to have a translator app on your phone as there's only one or two people who can speak English, it's best to have that translator app to get around, as you can get by with a little Spanish but not far! There's minimal roads on the Osa Peninsula but the wildlife here is absolutely spectacular and incomparable to anywhere else we've ever been!! This is by far the best stay we've had, service is impeccable, the rooms are squeaky clean, and all the rooms are updated. You won't have a t.v. or a mini fridge, but here you don't need one. You're literally in the best place on earth, there's so much wildlife on this little Peninsula don't spend your time in your room, walk a trail, book an excursion. The snorkeling is wonderful too, they have huge sting rays, giant shoals of yellow fin tuna, and they pick you up in a boat right behind the hotel in the bay. Be sure to go the Corcovado National Park, they can set that up at the hotel for you, it amazing, we saw Spider Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, Tayras Weasle, Toucans, Tapir with her baby, wild hogs, Tented Bats, Iguanas, Agutis, and so much more. This hotel also arranged our COVID tests and our flight out of Drakes Bay back to San Josè, so they can help arrange anything you might need being in a very remote place, they have resources that other hotels might not. You do have to pay for these services but it's...
Read moreAll in all, pretty good stay here. Simple yet comfortable accommodations. Breakfast/coffee every morning, and we had lunch the last day while we waited for a taxi - it was one of the better meals we had in Drake Bay. We opted for one of the rooms highest up on the hill, and while it was spacious and afforded a great view, the hill really is a bit of a challenge, especially if it's hot and muggy out and maybe you've had one too many cervezas. We knew this going in, but were surprised at just how challenging it was in the environment. The only other knock is the shower, while a nice size and with a great rain showerhead, drains really slowly and after a few minutes you were standing in a puddle of your own water. We were so busy with tours we never really got around to asking management if they could look into it, but might be worth checking into. Other than that, great location, beach was excellent for tour pick ups, and everyone was super friendly! Would stay again, just might look for a room lower down on the...
Read moreImpeccably clean. Stunning view. Organic and lush environment, right on the edge of the beach. Note that all the lodges rooms are going up the hill, and it's hard to find which one is the main office. Exceedingly friendly and helpful staff. This lodge seems to be where many of the tours start, and is very close to the 'center" of town. If you go to Osa, stay here and ask for room thre; a corner room at the top of the lodge, overlooking the beach on one side and up into the forest on the other. Even the shower has two sides of windows. You're high enough such that no one can see in. || We regularly saw pairs of macaws leaving south. Bright blue birds sitting at the tip of trees. Hummingbirds, and surroundings of lush and startlingly elegant flowers. ||The lodge restaurant has amazing coffee too. As we had to have our own food, they had no issue with us storing a lunchbox in their fridge. They brought it out with no questions whenever we asked. This is the perfect edge of the world. Milagro,...
