The location is beautiful, but that's all this place has going for it. We arrived late afternoon and the vibe we got from the staff was that they were annoyed they had to work. I thought the beds were uncomfortable, like bags filled with mashed potatoes, memory foam just doesn't do well in hot climates. I don't usually inspect hotel mattresses because the less I know the better, but it's hard not to notice the stains when the worn out bed sheet, that has holes in it, keeps slipping off the mattress. The blankets provided, although clean, looked like they had been purchased from a second hand store. Our shower had mold growing in the ceiling and it was kind of grimmy, we didn't use it much though because the water almost never worked. The walls were dirty and the room was covered with ants, we got tired of constantly brushing them off the bed and ourselves. We wanted to use the pool the first night but we decided against it because it was full of dead bugs. We did eventually use it though, despite the dead bugs because the water in our room wasn't working, and after spending the day at the beach and hiking various trails we were too tired and dirty to care about the insect corpses. Staff basically disappeared in the evening with no way to contact them, so if we needed something we were on our own. The last morning, after checking out, we noticed our passenger side mirror was crooked but didn't think anything of it. Later on we noticed some dents in our rental car, across the hood and windshield pillar. The only explanation I can figure out is that a branch fell on the car and a staff member removed it and threw it down the hill hoping that we wouldn't notice, there's no way to prove it though. We also had nothing but issues with the Wi-Fi not working. And when the power went out due to a storm no one checked on us to see if we needed anything, we felt completely abandoned sitting in the dark. The staff just doesn't seem to understand the basics of the hospitality industry. We were incredibly disappointed with our stay. The pictures online are beautiful, but they don't show the incredibly rough edges. It looks like it was a beautiful place to stay 10 years ago, but it hasn't been maintained. I don't know if the current owners were tricked into buying a failing business, or if they just don't care. It's a shame because it really could be an amazing place to spend a vacation. This was a very expensive and special vacation for us, so the three nights spent here were...

Read moreThis is an oasis atop a beautiful mountain. Gorgeous views, especially of the sunrise! They have a small infinite pool overlooking the mountains with amazing views. The grounds are pretty well kept. The employees don't speak English, (and we didn't speak much Spanish) but we were easily able to communicate with no problems. The food was surprisingly delicious, highly recommend the chicken burrito, shrimp and rice, and quesadilla. There is a great breakfast spread of fresh fruit, yogurts, toast/jam, and either scrambled eggs with tomato or fried eggs and bacon. The woman who works the night shift is incredible, she cooks, cleans, makes delicious Pina Coladas, and has a very cute granddaughter that she sometimes brings to work. Our room, bathroom, shower area were all very clean. The German owner speaks good English, but she made few appearances. Just know that it is NOT in the downtown area of Montezuma, but it is a $4usd cab ride into town, or 30 min walk, but it's atop a huge mountain so easier to just take cabs. Great place for family...
