Green Moon Lodge — Hotel in Cóbano

I cannot say enough good things about the Green Moon Lodge and Katrin. From the beginning Katrin was extremely responsive, accommodating and helpful. It was really interesting to hear here story of how this magical place came to be. If the photos intrigue you, I can promise you once you step onto her property you will feel like you’ve been transported somewhere else. It’s truly a little rainforest haven. When I pulled up I had asked about the monkeys as I hadn’t seen wild monkeys in Costa Rica yet. Seconds later her boyfriend Rubin came out and said he just saw them towards the back of the property. Sure enough there were monkeys in the trees! That was quite the entrance haha. The property is beaming with beautiful flora and fauna. Lush tropical gardens, butterflies and birds fluttering around. And of course, little lizards. The dome itself is beautifully constructed, thoughtfully decorated, extremely spacious, clean and full of natural light and carries a powerful beautiful energy. The bed is comfortable AND there is a washing machine! Katrin has a book with recommendations for food, activities, etc and is always available should you have any other questions. I had the pleasure of running into her and Rubin on my way to check out a beach she recommended and we enjoyed walking together and learning more about her and the community. We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Green Moon Lodge, and it was an experience that exceeded our expectations. The lodge itself is even more breathtaking in person than in the photos. Its unique acoustic qualities added a delightful dimension to our stay, creating an enchanting atmosphere for playing and listening to music.

Every detail for a comfortable stay was thoughtfully provided in the lodge, ensuring we had everything we needed. The garden surrounding the lodge is a serene oasis, perfectly complementing the structure. The hammock, nestled amidst this greenery, was a haven of comfort and relaxation.

What truly made our stay memorable was the exceptional hospitality provided by Katrin. Her deep connection with the Montezuma community is evident, and her recommendations significantly enriched our experience. During a bout of illness, Katrin, along with her boyfriend Ruben, showed immense kindness and went above and beyond to assist us, for which we are deeply grateful.

Katrin is an excellent host. When we arrived at the super cool, funky, comfortable Green Moon Lodge she greeted us, gave us the low down on the operation of the Dome (super simple) and then gave us many ideas on what to do in the Montezuma area. Over the 10 days we visited, we did most of her suggestions, including dining, explorations and other fun activities such as the Saturday local market. She was always just a text away for any questions and queries we had.

The Green Moon Lodge is approximately a 20 minute walk from town and the beach, on a quiet location, and is very well constructed….made with love as they say. Katrin has it stocked with all the things you will need for a very nice stay.
