We went to The Palms with two couples for four days and couldn’t have been happier. Each private residence is privately owned so many people aren’t there all the time. And the ones that live there aren’t using the pool/beach all the time so many times it feels like you have the place to yourselves. We went to the adult pool almost every day and we were almost always the only ones there. ||||We rented a golf cart from the villa for about $165 for 3 days ($55/day). This was nice because we could drive around town visiting restaurants, breweries and exploring the area. You’ll need to schedule a driver or tour to explore the waterfalls, national parks or jungle. We scheduled this through Dennis Castaneda Cabalceta (506-8876-1973 or denniscastaneda11@gmail.com). He was fantastic - always had waters or beers for us when we got into the air conditioned van. He was always early and pulled up right to our villa. He had amazing recommendations for tours and made payments very easy by credit card or cash. He speaks Spanish and English and allowed us to plug in our own music. He and his team (Martino and Carlos!) took us to multiple locations in Costa Rica and became friends by the end of the trip. Highly recommend all of them. You can also have them pick you up and drop you off at the airport too.||||We also booked a fishing and snorkeling trip through The Palms. We used a company that was owned by Christian who picked us up. He is sometimes on the boat but wasn’t able to make our trip but he crew was absolutely incredible. Donaldo was the captain and the deckhands were Luis and Moises. We wanted to see the sunrise from the boat so they arrived earlier than normal and didn’t say a word about our early expectations. We watched the sunrise and then started fishing. 15 minutes into the trip we pulled in a meter long wahoo. We trolled out to deep seas and pulled in many, many grouper - sometimes 2 at a time. All four of us reeled in grouper. Then we went after bluefin tuna and caught 2 40-45 pounders. We trolled back in from a few miles out and Donaldo spotted a blue marlin. Moises and Luis hooked it and we spent the next 1 1/2 hours reeling it in. 400 pounds, 8 ft long. We took a few photos on the side of the boat and released it. ||||We were well over the allotted time and they didn’t flinch about offering snorkeling time. We declined because we were exhausted but we were amazed they even offered to go snorkeling well after the scheduled time we paid for. This all included water, soft drinks, beers, liquor, coffee, gallo pinto breakfast on a 38 ft boat. They cut up our catch and helped us schedule and in-room chef at The Palms for that night at an incredibly reasonable price. It was the fishing trip of a lifetime. ||||Again, we couldn’t have been more happy with Donaldo, Luis and Moises. Thank you guys! ||||The beach at The Palms is private. Within walking distance to a couple eateries. Try Coco Loco for a sundowner and Portreros Brewery in town for a drink. ||||We didn’t have the kids with us but The Palms would be a great location for a single family or 1-2 couples. It’s quiet and private but also easy to...
Read morePrivate and Quiet. This condo is lovely with great amenities and well equipped kitchen. The two levels provided a much nicer view from upstairs, where we mostly were out on the veranda. Pro: Clean and tasteful. Con: The units are apparently becoming dated, and we had no water in the one shower at a few points. A/C in master was spotty. Ice Machine was somewhat non functional.|Beach: Fabulous and at he end of the public beach so really private. Soft white sand and easy waves.|Con: Very much an older crowd, and the place has little "vibe'. It is close enough to town to go get vibe, but basically without a car, we were trapped in a retirement village.|Pro: We could mind our own business and not be bothered. But is began to get a bit monotonous. We really missed the boat on the rental car situation, which apparently you have to order like a year in advance. |Con: We asked what time we should be out on our check out date, which was a Thursday. Being told that a new set of guests were coming in, we obliged an early check out. But then we were told that no guests were coming and we should just cancel our hotel (til Saturday because of flight options being limited), and stay there.Like it was a no brainer! However it was too late to cancel without losing our money. That deadline was a week earlier. Had we been aware of this at a more appropriate time we might have just stayed and then we would have made sure we stocked up on more food to cook in another night or two. But no car, no way out and no knowledge of this change in availability left us with no choice.|Con: communication with the staff and Owner is difficult unless you have "Whats App" on your phone. |Advice if you go: Plan a rental car for sure. And be ready with books and headphones. No music allowed by the pool.|And if you like to work out in a gym, this one is perfect, for two or less people at one time. It is a bit dated as well, but worked for us and was a way to keep a little busier. |Pro: Get the massage. Ask for Vanessa. The...
Read moreOur stay at The Palms on Flamingo Beach was nothing short of magical. Nestled right on one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful and tranquil beaches, this property offers front-row seats to some of the most stunning sunsets over the Pacific Ocean you’ll ever witness. Every night felt like a private show of color and calm.||||The villa was immaculate and well-appointed, blending comfort with luxury — and the real star of the stay was the setting. Just steps from the sand, we could hear the waves while enjoying morning coffee and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean.||||The pools were perfectly maintained, and the vibe throughout the property was relaxed and welcoming. Having a bartender on site was a true treat — we loved sipping fresh tropical cocktails without ever needing to leave. And the on-site massage therapists made it easy to completely unwind and disconnect.||||What makes this location even more special is its convenience — just an hour and change from Liberia airport, and a walk down the beach to the local restaurants and town. It’s private, but not isolated.||||One of the highlights of our trip was the catamaran tour, which the crew conveniently arranged with door-to-door beach service — they picked us up and dropped us off right in front of the property. It doesn’t get more seamless than that!||||The Palms is the kind of place you never want to leave. Whether you're seeking relaxation, beach adventure, or simply a front-row seat to nature's...
