Hotel Parque Del Lago San Jose — Hotel in Hospital

Parque Del Lago was perfect for our needs. We were only staying in San Jose to fly in and out of Costa Rica, and the complimentary Pick Up and Drop Off service was superb. Met at airport with our name on a sign and escorted politely to a very good cab. On the day of our return trip, we were transported by a very nice driver in a comfortable van. All aspects of this transportation was efficient, courteous, and easy.

The staff at the hotel were all gracious, helpful and understanding of whatever we wanted. It is very obvious that they are professional and well trained about international travelers.

The bar/restaurant was good. The mixed drinks were particularly expert. The rums are exceedingly fine. My wife loved the many non-alcoholic fruit drinks: agua frescas!!!

Food was good. Particularly the complimentary breakfast in the morning was VERY GOOD. I wouldn't miss it!

The rooms were good, clean, the beds comfortable, and the a/c was fine.

While we only used the hotel for transit, THE PARK virtually across the street was nice and safe. Some reviews overstate the negatives and hardly mention the positives. I would say it is like any big city park. No I wouldn't walk around at night alone, especially very late, but would you do that most of the time anywhere? We were never accosted, never approached, never threatened. There were many children, leagues playing games, joggers, walkers, and a wonderful couple selling fresh aqua frescas or a fresh coconut to drink out of with a straw for 2 dollars. There is also a wonderful museum just as you cross the street into the park. The police looked to have an office in the park, and they were smiling and friendly when I waved to them.

Warren provided the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my 13 years of going to Costa Rica.|My trip began by being stranded at the airport for over two hours even having a confirmed airport pick up reservation by Parque Del Lago. Three hours later upon arriving at the hotel I had missed my appointment and Warren greeted me taking my receipt saying he attempt to get my reimbursement. I of course, right away. Wanted to reconfirm my email reservation for my departure ride back to the airport and although he said yes for the 29th at 10 AM I could tell he was distracted so I wasn’t that confident. I again confirmed this the day before my departure.|About 930 at night I received a call from Warren saying that no I did not have a ride back because I didn’t set it up 3 days in advance. 10 days prior I have an email showing I did. I talked to Warren days prior and I confirmed it the day before, but none of this seemed to do the job anymore than my confirmed arrival reservation. |After all of this hassle and inconvenience all Warren could say was over and over ‘You are wrong! You are wrong!’Followed by ‘if you had $100 stolen you’d probably accuse me!’ What?!! How crazy and unprofessional could one be? |Warren behaved like an immature, angry toddler rather than a professional guest service rep. |I sent a letter to 4 of the reservation and Parque Del Lago management and I heard back from ZERO. I had to secure and pay my own way back as well. So much for airport transportation being included with your stay! |that. |Whatever positive I had at the hotel was surely forgotten by the rudeness of Warren and how this entire situation...

Este hotel con concepto estadounidense es el típico hotel enfocado en hombres de negocios, grupos que requieran un lugar para hospedarse y reunirse, el viajero quien no requiere servicios tales como piscina, canchas multiusos, o simplemente las personas quienes deseen un lugar tranquilo cerca del centro de San José -esto no limita a que cualquier otra persona que lo desee pueda hospedarse-.

Ubicado estratégicamente frente al Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, ofrece acceso rápido a museos, cines, centros de entretenimiento, parques, edificios gubernamentales, entre otros.

Destacan muchas cosas, pero quiero mencionar primero a su excelente personal, quienes fueron increíblemente amables, sin importar su posición, ya que no importa si te topas con quien asea las habitaciones o con el administrador del hotel, el trato será amable y enfocado en la satisfacción del cliente.

Las habitaciones son cómodas, con camas queen size (al menos en la que yo me hospedé), muy limpias y con olor agradable, incluidos los baños; disponen de un escritorio para el viajero que desee trabajar con su computadora portátil o tomar un café (en la habitación hay disponible una máquina con dos recipientes para hacer café); se suma al inventario una televisión de pantalla plana inteligente, la cual ya tiene algunas de las aplicaciones de streaming más populares, así como televisión por cable; y por supuesto no puede faltar el aire acondicionado.

En referencia a los baños, los mantienen muy limpios y te suplen con toallas (paños) de muy buena calidad, además de jabón, y pequeños recipientes con champú, acondicionador, y crema para manos y cuerpo; sin olvidar la secadora de cabello y el agua caliente.

Disponen de varias salas para reuniones, y te proveen con café y bocadillos para los asistentes (los paquetes para reuniones deberá consultarlos con el personal del hotel), por supuesto que hay aire acondicionado, además te facilitan logística requerida (sillas, mesas, pizarras de corcho, entre otros).

El restaurante nos proveyó de muy buena comida, y completa, incluye un plato de entrada el cual fue sopa o crema, un plato fuerte, y un postre -pequeño pero delicioso-; en este punto si siento que el espacio destinado es algo pequeño para un hotel que atiende grupos, existen para compensar esto unas mesas dispuestas a la entrada del restaurante, pero aún así siento que el espacio es pequeño.

Como en todos los casos la atención fue excelente.

El ingreso y salida es en los horarios habituales; ingreso 2:00 p.m., salida 12:00 m.d.

En cada piso se cuenta con un par de confortables sillas y una mesa frente a la salida del ascensor y unas salas ejecutivas con espacio para 2 personas.

Decorado con pinturas, esculturas, recipientes de vidrio, y hasta una radio antigua, las decoraciones me parecieron agradables a la vista.

Cuenta con facilidades para personas con discapacidad, y un pequeño espacio para hacer ejercicio, el cual honestamente no me invitó a hacerlo, me pareció más atractivo ir a la Sabana.

En general me pareció excelente, recomendado para hospedarse, los precios publicitados en los diferentes sitios especializados indican que es accesible, más tomando en cuenta su ubicación estratégica.

Desafortunadamente esta ubicación no ofrece una vista memorable de la ciudad alrededor.
