On the route Panama City - San Jose (Costa Rica), the engine of the bus produced a squealing noise during the first 10 hours of the trip; poor maintenance was my conclusion.
Effectively so, the bus broke down in Palmar Norte-- 5 hours from San Jose, and the company didn't make any effort to offer alternative transportation to the 30+ passengers. After 6 hours there, a group of us, 12 passengers in all, contracted a van and each one contributed $24 each to reach to our final destination. It was stunning to see that the company didn't even make an effort to send mechanics to fix the problem. Also, the WC of the bus was not the cleanest.
I called the company's headquarters in San Jose to request a reimbursement of that expense: on the first try, I was connected to an employee who asked for my telephone number-- no one answered my subsequent 15 calls.
Yesterday, whilst in Panama City (where the ticket was purchased), I asked the same clerk who sold me the ticket about reimbursement and she said "No, the company already provided the service".
Also, the dispatch clerk in San Jose for the return trip back to Panama lied to me when I asked for a window seat by saying that none was available; however, upon departure the bus was 1/2 full, with many empty seats, and no other passenger was picked-up before it reached the final destination, Panama.
It's interesting to note that both of those clerks-- dispatch and sales-- admitted that they knew about the broke down bus.

O onibus era extremamente velho e sem condições e estragou duas vezes, sendo que a segunda o ônibus se encheu de fumaça e os motoristas saíram para tentar resolver e nos deixaram presos no ônibus, já a noite. Tínhamos toda uma continuidade da viagem planejada, reserva em outro lugar, etc. mas não pudemos chegar pois chegamos no destino as 03 da manhã. Por sorte o terminal tem um hotel, sorte nada, para sermos atendidos no hotel, ainda levou mais meia hora esperando, já havíamos esperado 1 hora e meia para outro onibus nos buscar, pois o primeiro quebrou de vez, sendo que a distância para a estação era de 30 minutos. Não nos pediram desculpas, não se responsabilizaram por nada, nem nos ofereceram sequer um desconto no pernoite (entramos as 03:30 para sair o mais cedo possível de seguir viagem), quando na verdade deveriam nos dar a noite no hotel e pedir muitas desculpas. Não recomendo essa empresa, aos turistas desavisados, o serviço é péssimo, e se tiver um serviço bom, é exceção à regra, não o usual.

Read moreEl pasado 28 de diciembre, experimenté una serie de inconvenientes sumamente graves durante mi viaje de regreso a Nicaragua con la empresa Tica Bus que me llevaron a cuestionar seriamente la calidad de sus servicios.
Con el fin de asegurarme de llegar a tiempo a mi destino, me presenté en la parada de autobuses de Liberia a las 6:45 AM, con una anticipación considerable a la hora de salida programada del autobús a las 8:00 AM. A pesar de esta puntualidad, el autobús nunca se detuvo en la parada.
Tras esperar durante un tiempo considerable intenté comunicarme con las oficinas de Tica Bus sin éxito, no me respondieron ni las llamadas, ni los mensajes!
En medio de todo este estrés e impotencia decidí trasladarme a San José donde unos familiares porque no tenía donde quedarme en Liberia, este fue un viaje de 5 horas, para presentar una reclamación formal en la estación. Al llegar a las oficinas centrales, la agente de atención al cliente tenia un semblante de prepotencia y negó rotundamente que el autobús no se hubiera detenido en la estación, a pesar de las pruebas fotográficas que presenté como evidencia de mi presencia en la hora y lugar correctos!
Después de una larga discusión, finalmente me dijeron que mi Bus si pasó, pero hasta las 11 am, lo cual me suena muy ilógico, luego ofrecieron un nuevo cupo para el día 29 de diciembre a la 1 am, fue lo único bueno si se podría decir.
Sin embargo, mi calvario aún no había terminado. Al abordar el autobús asignado, descubrí que mi equipaje había sido cargado en otra unidad por "error" . Afortunadamente, logré recuperar mis pertenencias antes de que el otro autobús partiera.
Estos incidentes no solo generaron una gran cantidad de estrés y molestias, sino que también representaron un gasto económico adicional y el exponerme al peligro de manera innecesaria a mi niña y a mi al quedarnos varadas y solas en esa parada.
En base a lo ocurrido, no puedo recomendar los servicios de Tica Bus. Es fundamental que los viajeros estén conscientes de los riesgos asociados a esta empresa y tomen las precauciones necesarias para evitar...
