We had high hopes for this hotel, which looks great online, but there was several surprises and inconveniences once we checked in. Our original room was not quite as advertised, including a couch cushion on a window ledge with no base, no fridge, no microwave, a wet bathroom floor/cracked tiles, and non appealing tub. We went to the front desk and explained our concern. The concierge said they were fully booked but got us another room a few doors down. When we went to that room we opened the door to see what seemed like someone was still staying there , or it had not been cleaned. Again we went to the front desk and we were a bit more upset this time around. He then bumbled around and eventually said he was going to put us in a suite down the hall that included a jacuzzi and most likely a fridge/microwave. It was a slight step up from our original room but did not actually have a fridge or microwave, and the jacuzzi had no drain plug to actually use it as intended. Everyday of our trip we then had issues with both keycards randomly not opening the door. Every time we had to go to the front desk to get it fixed. The last night we were there it happened but they could not fix the cards for whatever reason and had a worker open the door for us (which took 20 mins for him to help) which made us have to stay in the room most of the time so we didn’t have to get an escort back. Now onto the dining options. During check in they told us about the restaurant hours, where he included the Japanese place Sakura, but that place has been permanently closed at the time. The spot next door ‘Quattro’ had an incredibly small menu to the point we didn’t ever eat there. Pirates bar and grill next to the lobby/casino only had the bartender servicing all patrons by himself. The drinks felt like there was almost no alcohol and the food was average. The breakfast buffet is not included for guests and is $15 per person/day which is pretty steep for eggs, hash browns, rice &beans, and plantains. The cafe was decent, with good coffee. The poolside bar was not open the entire week of our stay (march 4-10) , along with the spa. The gift shop workers took pretty random breaks and it would have you surprised it’s not open at times. There is outside food options over a footbridge across the road which we used. The hot tubs by the pool seemed to have warmer water but I don’t believe the jets and all that work. There was no ice machine that I could locate. The one that signs pointed to at the end of our hallway was an empty space where it use to be. You have to ask the front desk to get some from the kitchen. The hotel is in a decent location between San Jose downtown and the airport, with a nice view from the roof ( take the stairs by the buffet all the way up and go thru the conference room sliding door) . Overall I would not choose to stay here again and actually wish I could have been reimbursed for the false...
Read moreThe lobby was spacious, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, offering numerous comfortable couches.
There was a casino and a few restaurants on the same floor.
The front desk staff are friendly and speak English.
The initial set of key cards malfunctioned, necessitating a return trip for reprogramming.
Our room lacked bath towels, hand towels, and face towels. Furthermore, our phone lacked instructions for contacting the front desk; we only learned how to do so from the hotel's looped television programming. After contacting the front desk, we were told someone would bring towels, but after a 30-minute wait, we had to retrieve them ourselves. Unfortunately, only bath towels were available.
The room was clean and nicely appointed. It featured a small living room with a mini-fridge, comfortable couches, and a 32" flat-screen TV, as well as a wet bar with a coffee maker. Coffee pods and tea bags were thoughtfully provided.
The bedroom is furnished with two queen beds, a nightstand, a walk-in closet, a desk and chair, an iron and ironing board, a suit valet, drawers, and a 40-inch television. There are several wall outlets, and one is conveniently located on the desk lamp.
The bathroom was a decent size. There was not much countertop space. Hotel-sized toiletries were provided.
The shower-jacuzzi combination was a pleasant addition. However, the shower head could benefit from a more thorough cleaning, as the water pulsation and pressure were less than ideal. The water heated rapidly. The hair dryer was installed on the wall.
The beds were clean and very comfortable. Four pillows were provided for each bed. There was a nightstand between the beds.
The breakfast provided a variety of food and drinks. Please see the attached videos and photos. They asked our name before entry.
The facility included a game room equipped with a pool table, chessboard, and other gaming tables.
The fitness center was inaccessible at approximately 8:00 AM. I did not see the operating hours posted anywhere.
The property featured multiple outdoor swimming pools, each with a maximum depth of four feet. All pools were unheated, with the exception of one pool equipped with four integrated, circular hot tubs. Please refer to the attached video footage for further details.
Our stay was enjoyable, and we would gladly return to this hotel.
