I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal restaurant Cariari , and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern feel that made us feel right at home. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring that every need was met with a smile.
The menu offered a fantastic selection of dishes, all crafted with the finest ingredients. We started with the chicken tikka.which was a perfect balance of flavors, and the presentation was simply stunning. For the main course, I had the masala.and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The seasoning was just right, enhancing the natural flavors of the ingredients.
The [palak chicken ] was a great complement to the main course, with fresh, vibrant flavors that really stood out. We finished the meal with a [gulab jamun], which was the perfect sweet ending—light, indulgent, and full of rich, satisfying flavors.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is the attention to detail. From the carefully curated wine list to the impeccable service, it’s clear that the team takes pride in every aspect of the dining experience. Every dish was delivered with care, and it’s evident that the chefs have a true passion for their craft.

The atmosphere is cool, the service is good and the food was on par, not amazing but ok.
The menus are super worn out and a bit dirty, most people won’t mind, just something I notice and it bothered me a bit.
However, what made me write this review is that they charge separately for rice! and it wasn’t just a little extra.
Every single Indian restaurant I’ve gone to in any country will include rice as part of their dish.
Perhaps there is wording in their menu somewhere that I’ve missed, I didn’t go back to look.
So, the meals arrived without rice and we then added a simple basmati rice bowl, no frills. It was the double portion bowl, not the smaller single one.
Once we go to settle the bill, I come to learn that a single bowl of white/plain rice will cost you $9 USD. I found that incredibly excessive.
The $9 includes the 13% tax and 10% service/tip (no need to tip extra). Still way too much!
I’ve added our bill to this review.
3 person meal will set you back over $100 USD. Crazy how expensive Costa Rica has become.
You can still find reasonable priced places but you have to go to the more secluded, less tourist...
