Review: Hotel Linda Vista – The Perfect Stay Near Arenal
If you're looking for a comfortable, modern, and scenic hotel in the Arenal area for around $150/night, Hotel Linda Vista is an excellent choice. From stunning volcano views to great amenities, this hotel checks all the boxes for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The Rooms & Cleanliness The rooms are modern, well-maintained, and bug-free—which is a huge plus in the tropics. The views of Arenal Volcano from the rooms, the pool, and the restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to this view every morning was a highlight of our trip.
Easy Access & Beautiful Grounds Unlike many other hotels in the area, Hotel Linda Vista has a paved road leading up to it, making access much easier, especially during rainy conditions. The hotel also takes pride in its beautifully designed green shrubs and gardens, which are meticulously maintained, adding to the charm of the property.
Pool & Jacuzzi – Perfect for Arenal’s Climate Arenal can get quite chilly, but Hotel Linda Vista’s pool is temperature-controlled, making it comfortable for a swim any time of day. Even better, there’s a hot Jacuzzi right beside the pool, perfect for soothing sore feet and legs after a long day of hiking.
Dining – Delicious & Worth It The hotel offers a free basic breakfast, which is a great start to the day. But what really stood out was the restaurant’s lunch and dinner options—highly recommend trying:
Seafood soup – Fresh, flavorful, and warming. Curry chicken – A perfect blend of spices and richness. Shrimp burrito – Packed with flavor and a great portion size.
Short Hiking Trail – Best in the Early Morning A hidden gem at Hotel Linda Vista is its 400-meter hiking trail, which is perfect for a short nature walk. The best time to do it is early morning, when you can spot monkeys high up in the canopy. We also tried it at night, and it was a fascinating experience, with the sounds of the jungle making it feel like a completely different world.
Service – Shoutout to Brian! The staff at Hotel Linda Vista is friendly and welcoming, but special thanks to Brian at the check-in desk, who went above and beyond to make our stay even better.
Final Verdict Hotel Linda Vista is an amazing stay near Arenal Volcano, offering modern, clean rooms, spectacular views, a heated pool, a fantastic Jacuzzi, and even a short nature trail. With great food, well-maintained grounds, and exceptional service, it’s an ideal choice for those looking for both comfort and adventure in the Arenal region. Plus, the paved road access is...
Read moreEverything you can imagine about the view high in the hills is true. It is beautiful! The surrounding property is lush, and has a feeling of being "local". ||||My taxi driver said he knew where the hotel was located, yet he could not find it. After asking several (5 or 6) people parked, working or walking in the neighborhood where it was supposed be, he got us there. Instead of being a 30 minute drive it was nearly an and a half and cost $70 with tip instead of $35. My purpose in being in CR is dental work, and I was afraid to stay there because I could only imagine twice a day the difficulty of having a taxi find the hotel (and the cost). So I checked out as I checked in.||||There was no other guest in sight, and there was construction happening. My room was comfortable, very simple and no extras. It had a very small, very old TV perched high on the armoire. It was cool at the elevation we were, and the room was not heated so I asked for a blanket and slept under it wearing my jacket. The lighting was very dim so I couldn't see to get any reading work done. The internet was great when it worked and it kept cutting out. I read online there was a restaurant, and there was no restaurant. I was offered a menu from a nearby place that would deliver dinner, but they were not open until 6PM. It was 3 and I hadn't eaten all day. Nothing to walk to either. Breakfast was a pot of coffee, white or wheat bread, a stack of cold pancakes without syrup, some very orange colored juice, packets of butter and plastic containers of fruit and (yummy) bananas. The table had lines of tiny sugar ants parading across it. I say all of this about the breakfast because in Costa Rica one expects a great breakfast. There wasn't a soul around at 8 am if I had any requests. ||It was too cool for swimming but the pool location was beautiful - and the pool had bunches of leaves in it. ||GOOD POINTS: Price point low at $57. View spectacular. Awesome guy who works there was super accommodating. Free calls to the States via Magic Jack. It has a ton of potential.||ADVICE: Stay here if you are not needing much comfort, internet, and don't need to travel...
Read moreOur experience at Hotel Linda Vista was more than we could have hoped for. First, when we arrived, there is a hand washing station at the main reception area (like most public places in Costa Rica) and the staff were all amazingly friendly. We arrived late in the evening and their restaurant is not currently open but Ana helped us call for delivery from a nearby restaurant. All the local restaurants served great food and we tried to eat at each to share the love. ||Our room had one of the best views on the property and we woke up the first morning to a perfectly clear view of the Arenal Volcano and the lake. We were able to have coffee on our balcony each morning before the breakfast included with the room rate. Breakfast was delicious and one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. You can choose either the tradicional Gallo Pinto or Americano and both are great and come with the same amazing view and fast service if you have planned for a full day of activities. ||Our room was very comfortably appointed with a mini-fridge, coffee maker, hair-dryer, and rainfall shower. ||I would recommend renting a car to explore the area and to check out the other restaurants in El Castillo and La Fortuna. But if you don’t have a car you could certainly make do with the tour transfer services and ordering food delivery each afternoon or evening. ||The pool was perfect to unwind in after a full day and the jacuzzi was just the perfect temperature. It was a quiet break from what I imagine to be packed thermal pools at other resorts. ||To top it all off we saw several species of birds and hummingbirds from our balcony including a pair of toucans!||We’d recommend Hotel Linda Vista to all our friends and family and if ever come back to La Fortuna will...
