On a trip to Costa Rica that included visits to the beaches on the Caribbean side, waterfalls and a coffee farm in the mountains, deep sea fishing, national parks, beaches on the Pacific side, and everything in between, our meal at Mad Fish was head and shoulders above all of the other meals we enjoyed along the way, and was truly one of the highlights of our trip.

The atmosphere is refined, and very welcoming.

Our dinner party consisted of 11 people from two families, so we were able to sample and share many of the different flavors from the menu. Chef Tere and her staff put so much care and attention to detail into each dish and that showed through in every bite!

We started with an appetizer of fish dip which was very creamy and flavorful along with margaritas and house made fruit juices (which should be bottled and sold retail).

The specialty is ceviche, and they offer several different varieties, each of which has a special and unique flavor. I personally ordered and thoroughly enjoyed Ceviche Mad Fish which was served with patacones that complimented the dish perfectly.

The Rice with Shrimp was another favorite of the group. This relatively simple dish was prepared to a creamy perfection!

We also enjoyed the “San Lucas” which is a whole Red Snapper. It was prepared to a perfect flakiness and topped with shrimp, sautéed peppers and onions and finished with a sweet/tangy sauce creating a delicious combination of flavors.

For desert, we all enjoyed the picarones which were presented almost as beautifully as they tasted!

Do not pass up an opportunity to visit this amazing restaurant. It is...

Really cozy place that feels really like home!

The rice was pretty good! It was unexpected made with interestinf spices that mixed well.

The ceviche is pretty local, it was just really sour like anywhere else 😂!

Overall the foods were good!

I think they have freshly made lemon juice, which was mixed with ginger and tasted a bit fermented?

The waitresses kept forgetting out water so we had to ask a few times.

My favorite empanadas shop is actually right inside this restaurant! Ordered online all the time, never knew...

Fantastic food! Great service! Clean environment!

Food is amazing fresh and similar to a home cooked meal. The sea food soup, caribean rice with shrimp and plantain, ceviche was out of this world. I and my friends visited this restaurant 2 times out of the 4 days we spent in Costa Rica. In addition to the amazing food, the waitresses were very professional and polite. I highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic dinning experience. I'll definitely go back on...

Food was great and tasted good except for the fact that everything was spicy. My best friend and I ordered 4 plates from the menu and 2 of them were spicy, 1 with hot sauce on the side and the one thing not spicy was the dessert. Not all people enjoy or even tolerate spiciness the same way. It would have been a 5 star if they would have let us know about the spiciness when we order or if it were marked on the menu.
