Little Hawaii Avellanas — Hotel in Tamarindo

My wife and I stayed at Little Hawaii Avellanas during our recent trip to Costa Rica for a wedding, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality from the owners, Jose and Bre, who truly go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Their exceptional customer service set the tone for a wonderful stay.

The property itself is absolutely stunning—beautifully maintained, immaculately clean, and surrounded by lush tropical greenery that creates a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are tastefully designed with attention to detail, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style.

One of the best features of Little Hawaii Avellanas is its fantastic location. It’s just a short walk to the gorgeous Playa Avellanas, one of the most pristine beaches we’ve ever visited, and close to several great restaurants where we enjoyed delicious meals. The convenience of being so close to everything while still feeling tucked away in a peaceful retreat was incredible.

This property was the best find in the area. As a solo female traveler and remote worker, I was looking for a safe property, a reliable internet connection, and a close walk to the surf. This place had all 3 and more! Beach is a few minutes walk away (one of the closest spots you can find in the area). I had almost no connection issues minus the standard Costa Rica outages which only happened maybe 1-2 times for a duration of a few minutes during my 1.5 month stay. I was so nervous about being well connected for work in a quiet/ undeveloped community like avellanas, but the owner had a very great system installed and there was even an option to connect with Ethernet cable if needed. The property is completely fenced with several cameras and a coded gate. Bonus is the property is gorgeous, the rooms are sparkling clean and well kept, and those host is extremely nice and attentive. I can’t wait...

I absolutely loved my stay at Little Hawaii! The location was unbeatable—just a short walk to the beach, which made it so easy to enjoy the ocean any time of day, including the beautiful sunsets. Jose was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire stay. The pool area was clean, relaxing, and a great spot to hang out and unwind as it was surrounded by beautifully maintained greenery.

The room itself was spotless and very comfortable. The shower was miraculous, great water pressure and beautifully tiled. I also really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, which had plenty of space to cook meals even though there were restaurants nearby. Having a coffee maker available was a thoughtful touch that made mornings even better.
