It's okay, expensive for what you get, but everything in Avellanas is expensive, service is average to poor, the restaurant is nice but filled with cats walking around consider this if you are allergic, there is not enough parking space, overall a mediocre experience, had a reservation and the table was not reserved, read so many reviews about the best italian food, I don't think so. Really disappointed about this place to be honest, would rather eat at another place next time. It's about 60usd for 2 lasagnas and 2 beers. Got the feeling that it you are a local they don't care about you. Ticos stay away! UPDATE: The owner is so condescending with his answer, so I dont understand how costly and difficult is to achieve that in the middle of nowhere? how would you know that? It's costly however I don't mind paying if the service is good, we had to leave because we were left behind under the rain and no one took care of us, the waiter did not know what to do, actually I'm updating my review to 1 star thanks for your reply, my reviews have been seen over 600k times, good luck with your business in our...

We stayed in Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica for a week, and one of the highlights of our trip was dining at Il Rustico. The food was absolutely incredible—every dish from appetizers to desserts was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their cocktails were on point, and the local beer selection was a great bonus.

What truly set Il Rustico apart was their amazing service. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. My wife is a gluten-free vegan, and they were not only understanding but also creative in preparing dishes tailored to her diet. They even customized meals for our kids, which made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming.

If you’re in the area, Il Rustico is a must-visit spot. It’s rare to find a place that nails food, service, and atmosphere all at once—but they did just...

Soooo good!! Los Pargos really doesn’t have much around in terms of restaurants, it’s very rural. But even if there were a ton of options, I’d still want to come here every night. The cooks are literally Italian, so you know you’re getting authentic Italian food. We unfortunately discovered it on the last night of our stay, and wished we went sooner so we could go multiple times!! We had 1 pizza and 1 pasta bolognese...I love bolognese and this was awesome, but honestly the pizza was the winner. We wished we had 2 pizzas instead! Not only was the food amazing, but my rose was great, my husband’s cocktail was great. Service was great! Also, I’m big on atmosphere and this place is so cute! We sat outside amongst string lights and a ton of greenery, it’s like you’re in a little rain forest. Come here,...

Such a rustic but chic place. Everyone serving was really friendly, there was a mixup in our order but it was resolved really quickly. The pizza is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I would definitely go back but we went on our last day there. The prices were slightly steep, at 17 dollars for the primavera. The cheapest pizza was 12 dollars and the most expensive 20. The pizzas are big enough to share between two if you are not too hungry or if you have a starter or salad as well. I think there were 6 largish slices. The pastas were around the same price range. We had the tiramisu for dessert which was also tasty but not the best one I have ever had.

Excellent experience and the best Italian dinner in this area. The server was charming and personable. The restaurant and setting itself was...Rustic, interesting and charming. It is pretty much in the coastal jungle near Hacienda Pinilla, and part of the road to get there isn't paved, but well worth the drive. Very hot pizza oven results in crispy crust and a great meal. Plenty of pasta options, very good wine list (which is hard to come by around here), vegetarian and vegan options. We shared the Ravioli Zucca pumpkin filling with walnuts and tasty sauce, loved it. It's my new favorite Italian restaurant!

Quite a little gem in our area. Delicious freshly made pasta everyday. They even carry gluten free and it's darn authentic. We'll be back. And again and again. So we did go back... we found the locals got treated differently than the visitors, which was disappointing. We arrived 5:30pm and were not offered a 'prime table, though we had a reservation and were the only patrons in the restaurant. hmmmm On a third trip we locked in without a reservation at 7:00 p.m. and we're told no tables available.. We saw seating available as we were leaving. hmmm
