These good reviews and the pictures in their website are SO MISLEADING! This place is the WORST thing happened to us in our trip to CR. First of all, this is not a hotel at all! This sure looked like some kind of a shelter. We arrived on a rainy day and the road to this location was a nightmare. Huge potholes, water flew through that unpaved road like a river in some points. We had to drive in that dark, bumpy, muddy road for 2 hours to get there. It was very dangerous given the fact both the sides were the forest. If something happened to our vehicle, we would get stuck there for the whole night. Nobody even reached out to us sending directions or anything before we arrived. The gate was closed at the entrance & nobody was there, the only option we had was to honk the car horn & someone finally showed up. Our first impression was “whoa! this cannot be a hotel for sure!”. From the room we slept, loud noises were heard including the people playing downstairs & vehicles on the road. The whole property was outdated, rest room was covered by an old curtain, that’s also only through half way. The faucets were difficult to open because they were cheap, outdated & industrial. I got my finger hurt trying to open the faucet in the sink. The whole room felt unclean so we did not even touch the towels. We just wanted to get out of there the next morning as soon as possible. In the morning they offered us breakfast and later said they will charge separately for that! With all the inconveniences we went through to get there, we didn’t want to eat a several pieces of fruit & some eggs & pay them about $40 for breakfast so that we left. Do yourselves a favor and find a real hotel. This places...
Read moreFirst of all the accommodation looks amazing, the garden, the pool, the fire camp place, the whole common area is very nice. There was just one problem for us, we didn't feel welcome. The breakfast is enough but you have no choice, you will receive some things (fruits, rice and beans, scrambbled eggs, something sweet, juice and coffee) and nobody is asking what you like. I will never understand how they can offer only 2 small pieces (2 bites) of pineapple per person (a whole pineapple costs just 1 USD). I stayed here for 3 nights and at every breakfast I received 6 fruits bites: 2 of pineapple, 2 of papaya and 2 of water melon. |One day before the New Year we went in a fishing trip and we caught a lot of fish, Mahi Mahi and Tuna. The lady from the boat made us a lot of fillets to can take them at accommodation. My boys were very happy to share their fish with the owners of the hotel and with all the guests (we had around 15 kg of fillets). We had a bad surprise: the hotel staff didn't like we came with fish and they didn't want to help us to prepare it. I understood they didn't like that we wanted to share the fish with all the guests because nobody will pay for the dinner and I didn't push them. The following day was New Year Eve and we decided with the staff to put the fish on the grill (they had a dinner barbeque buffet). The next day they didn't cook the fish and the buffet was not a buffet. Every guest received a normal plate containing all 7 dishes from the menu (I don't eat much but after this party I went to sleep being hungry). We left on 1st January and nobody asked us if we want to take OUR fish from them fridge. I am travelling a lot but I never met a...
Read moreLatica Lodge is a special place. I visited on the off season and went solo and the couple who owns it weren’t there but very communicative and got me in touch with their head Chef Luca along with a driver named Fabricio who picked me up from the airport and took me to Latica. Fabricio was incredibly nice, I mentioned how I love the coconut water in Costa Rica and he stopped on the way and bought two coconuts that we shared. I then mentioned how I love the Lizano sauce that they have in Costa Rica and he stopped at the store and bought me a Lizano sauce for my trip with his own money as a gift. He knew everyone in town and had nick names for everyone and it made for such an enjoyable experience. ||Chef Luca is a sweet and incredible soul. He was super kind and attentive and made sure I had everything I needed during my trip. Anytime I needed to eat he was right there to get me fed. He has dog named El Capitan who is a really cool and special animal that follows him everywhere. Luca made my stay very comfortable. ||Lastly the Gardner Evon is incredibly kind and made sure I had enough coconut waters throughout my trip. He constantly went up the tree and cracked coconuts and put them in the fridge as fast as I could drink them. I got a chance to meet his family and swim with his kids who are incredibly sweet and fun. ||I can’t wait to visit Latica with my wife and kids...
