I called to ask about a kids menu, and the lady told me they don't have one, but could make pasta, chicken fingers, or fish fingers, or a smaller portion of something from the menu. Then she broke the news, they were booked for the evening, and it was out last day. She said if we were okay to sit by the pool, we could come tonight - and I'm glad we took her up! First, the commute. We came from Hacienda Pinilla. Google Maps took up through some crazy bumpy road that wasn't even on Waze. The restaurant itself is on a dirt road, but protip, follow the road closer to the Ocean. It's also unpaved, but much, much less bumpy. This place is a diamond in the rough. An unassuming building on a dirt road. When we arrived, there was a table open inside, and the lady (I believe one of the owners), let us sit there. The service was by far the best we had in Costa Rica! The pacing was a bit a slow for 6 and 9 year olds at 730pm, but that's my fault 🥱. The food was amazing. They have an extensive wine list, including $500+ Bordeaux and California wines, plus dozens of interesting choices from all over the world. We skipped wine and went with cocktails. I had the Manhattan which was about average. The food, however, was amazing. I had the Scallop Risotto and my wife had the Lobster Ravioli. My dish had three large scallops, and hers had half a lobster tail. Both were outstanding and the portions were just the right size. Afterwards, my kids were literally falling asleep at the table so I asked for the check. The kids perked up because they heard about chocolate lava cake earlier and knew this was there chance. They rallied and got their cake and said it was their favorite dessert this whole vacation. Definitely recommend making the trek here if you near Tamarindo. It's worth the drive, just make reservations!

Nestled in the lush tranquility of Playa Negra, Costa Rica, Villa Deevena is a culinary treasure that’s nothing short of unforgettable. This family-run restaurant, led by the incredibly talented Chef Patrick Jamon, offers an experience that is warm, refined, and absolutely worth the journey. From the moment you arrive, the welcoming atmosphere sets the tone. There's a genuine sense of hospitality from the entire team, making you feel more like a guest in someone's home than a diner at a restaurant. This heartfelt approach is a reflection of the family behind it – a team that pours love and passion into every detail. The cuisine? Simply spectacular. Chef Patrick masterfully blends French-inspired techniques with the freshest local ingredients, creating dishes that are elegant yet deeply comforting. Each plate is a celebration of flavor, balance, and creativity. Whether you’re indulging in perfectly seared seafood, tender meats, or handmade pastas, the care and artistry are unmistakable. And let's talk about the wine selection – exceptional. Villa Deevena boasts an expertly curated wine list that complements the menu beautifully. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass with dinner, you'll find something special here. The staff is more than happy to recommend pairings that elevate your meal to a whole new level. Villa Deevena is more than a restaurant – it’s a destination. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to an unforgettable night out, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Chef Patrick and his family have created something truly unique: a sanctuary for food lovers, where every meal feels like a celebration of life. Highly recommended. Don’t miss it.

Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, and friendly staff; This gem in Los Pargos is of the highest caliber - a culinary delight that one would expect to find in San Francisco or New York - not a little surf town in the middle of nowhere Costa Rica. Chef Patrick and family have created 'heaven on earth' within minutes of the best surf breaks in Central America. Do not come to Guanacaste without spending some time at Villa Deevena. This is not an inexpensive place. For a special occasion, the full treatment included drinks, appetizer, lobster for one and a fillet for the other and two desserts. Our bill was about $170 USD, and worth every penny. I understand that there is a Christmas eve dinner party. I also believe that this place would be a beautiful venue in which to have a small wedding in the beautiful and well manicured courtyard and then feed the wedding party in the restaurant. Nice and very personal people with a beautiful indoor / outdoor eating area which is adjacent to their boutique hotel. Great place that you cannot miss on a trip through the area.
