I chose this guest house as it was close to Zagreb airport for our early flight out on the Sunday morning - we were collected by a chap who had clearly drank a lot of alcohol and while friendly, could not keep up with conversation and was a little confused, this was not a language barrier but a drink one!! The guest house had us feeling apprehensive in its appearance with the bar and betting shop next door. The girl who was working the bar was also the receptionist and was very friendly with a good grasp of English. |The room was small and basic - there was only 1 bath towel in the room with 2 of us staying over the night which was odd. |We were provided with 1 pillow each and so I asked for an extra pillow as my wife likes 2 for a comfortable nights sleep but a chap in a shell suit (manager or owner possibly) in the bar refused our request - politely, but refused all the same. |We were offered a free drink as guests and we were picked up and dropped off to and from the airport all included in our price which was a welcome touch. ||We ate at a restaurant, Barba Niko, just up the road as there is no food service at the guest house - the food was good and nicely priced but only accepts Kuna or card for payment. ||I think in retrospect I would spend much more time sourcing a bed if I went to the same area again but the bed was comfortable the young receptionist helpful and friendly; despite the location, the drunken driver, the lack of towels and the denied request for an extra pillow - we paid €40 with free transfer driver, 2 free beers and a bed for the night and made it to our flight on time. ||Basically, it's a serviceable room...
Read moreI called per instruction after I retrieved my bags and the phone call was taken in perfect English with perfectly clear instructions. I was picked up in about 12 minutes and driven right to the front door of the house. I was met by English speaking staff as soon as we pulled in. It was after midnight and they had waited up for me, even after an hour and a half flight delay!
My bags were taken to my room and I was shown the way. The room has all the essentials, including shower soap and shampoo. There was an air conditioner, TV, wardrobe and side bed light. Towels and a face cloth were set out for me.
The room was clean.
I was invited for coffee the next morning and they made sure I was taken care of. I even got a knock on the door in the morning to make sure I didn't miss my bus!
The room is tight, but it's perfect for what it's needed for and the building has character (an outdoor terrace covered in a roof of red wine grapes that they male their own wine with!).
My expectations were exceeded for my...
Read moreFirst there was no parking place for us because the bar was full. Then I had to enter the bar to ask for reception witch was awfull. A bar full of drunk older men and cigaret smoke... I was very uncomfortable to go in. The waiter/receptionist woman was in a hury to go back in the bar, so we didn't get a warm and friendly welcome. In the room, only one set of towels, so I had to go back in the bar to ask for more... We didn't ask for breakfast, but if its also in the bar...I'm happy we have left early.||||The rooms were clean, warm, with aircondition, hot water, tv, wifi...very quiet. Some things could be improved (like key chaine). The view was bad, and a chair could be usefull for guests in the room. Also, they should have a key in the front door, I didn't feel very safe sleeping in a house where anybody could go in at any time of the night. The price...
