M & J Central Suites — Hotel in Grad Korčula

We were met at the Ferry and escorted to our apartment by Georgia, a friend of the owner. She made us feel at home immediately and could not have been more welcoming. She provided us with a map of the area and gave us many helpful suggestions. She recommended we attend the Moreska Korcula, a traditional dance group, which we thoroughly enjoyed.||Beautiful, modern very clean apartment, we stayed for 2 nights. After travelling for a week, the washing machine and clothes line were a welcome sight. The apartment is equipped with everything you need, full size stove, microwave, dishwasher, and dishes. However, we did not use the kitchen as there are so many good restaurants all within walking distance. Nice sized bathroom with soaps, shampoo provided.||Great location, we walked everywhere and felt very safe. Vegetable / fruit stand and grocery store nearby.||We stayed in the loft which may not be ideal for the elderly or persons with mobility issues as there are quite a few stairs and no elevator.||||My wife and I would definitely stay here again. Wir standen Ende September nachmittags um 14h im engen Gässchen vor dem Schild "M&J Central Suites" und riefen auf's Geratewohl die Nummer auf dem Schild an - ohne Vorwissen. In Kürze nimmt Jelena ab, sie spricht sehr gut Englisch. 10 Minuten später steht sie da, zeigt uns alles in 5 Minuten, professionell, angenehm diskret, effizient und unkompliziert. Kommunikation per SMS klappt perfekt. ||Das Studio ist perfekt und stilvoll, liebevoll eingerichtet, hervorragend ausgerüstet mit der Türe auf das Gässchen, Morgenessen und Apéro draussen am Tisch im Gässchen. In der Küche hat es eine Kaffeemaschine, sogar Kaffee und Zucker hatte es noch, genügend und sinnvolles Geschirr, Zapfenzieher, Aschenbecher - einfach alles. Und alles tipptopp sauber. Im Badezimmer eine Waschmaschine zur freien Verfügung. Wir blieben 4 Nächte und fühlten uns sehr wohl. Kaum hat es einmal kurz etwas geregnet, brachte Jelena uns schon einen Regenschirm vorbei. Nach 2 Tagen frische Frottéwäsche. Wir können es nur empfehlen. Weil es mitten in der Altstadt gelegen ist, hat es halt keinen Ausblick auf's Meer (nur vom Tisch auf dem Gässchen aus einen Ausschnitt, hat aber auch sehr Charme), aber den hatten wir ja eh von morgens bis abends irgendwo. ||Und den Fischen im Aquarium eingebaut in die Stehbar haben haben gerne Gesellschaft geleistet und sie gemäss Anweisung gefüttert. ||Parkplatz haben sie keinen, das Auto kann man für 50 Kuna pro Tag im Parkhaus lassen etwas oberhalb des Städtchens.||Empfehlung: Velos mieten, z.B. nach Lumbarda an den Strand sind es nur etwas mehr als 5km, sehr schön, ungefährlich, fast nur flach. Unbedingt in Lumbarda auf der andern Seite (Nordosten) bis zum Leuchtturm (ein wenig Off-Road/ungeteert, aber gut machbar mit Mountainbikes), Halbinselchen Raznjič. Wenn möglich Hängematte mitnehmen, hat wunderbare Bäume dort mit Feuerstelle. Oder auf die andere Seite (westlich von Korčula Stadt) alles dem Meer entlang, total ca. 20km hin und zurück, nach Račišće. Da braucht es keine Mountainbikes. Restaurants im Städtchen: Adio Mare und Aterina - das ist Qualität, sonst viel eher sehr Mittelmässiges. Im Aterina unbedingt die kalten Platten für 100 oder 200 Kuna bestellen - Hammer! Im Adio Mare Fisch (ist aber recht teuer). Sonnenuntergang auf dem Kirchenturm oder in der Cocktailbar Massimo auf dem Festungsturm nicht verpassen. Der Rest der Insel ist nicht unbedingt spannend, ausser ev. für eine Weinreise. Vela Luka ist trist und hässlich....

We spent just 1 night at the Suites but had a great stay. We were traveling with our 2 young toddlers, and it was no problem to get a crib for the room. The woman who met us to check in was incredibly friendly and helpful, and understanding that we had missed our ferry so arrived an hour later than we had originally stated.||||No fault of the property at all, but it's located in the charming Old City so no cars are allowed. If you arriving by car, you must find parking outside the city about 5 min walk away and walk your bags to the Suites. We were advised to move our car further away to a cheaper garage after unloading the bags, which was about a 15 min walk.||||Overall the property was clean, nice and had everything we needed, including a washer and kitchen.
