✖️THEY CANCELLED ON US AT THE DOOR✖️😢 it’s a shame to have to write this, but important to flag (read more details here):
🔘so as avid believers in the Michelin Guide (see my other reviews), we were SO excited to eat here. However, we showed up to the door at our reservation, to be told AT THE DOOR “sorry, it’s too windy” 🔘speaking to the waiter some more, he said that they did have some space inside - but a party had booked all the tables 🔘 was told that they used to have more space inside, but the owner covert some of the space into a flat 👎BIG thumbs down for putting personal intrest over the food 👎
✖️think the main thing that’s left me to write this is NO COMMUNICATION. They said they sent an email (they didn’t - or at least we didn’t receive anything), but for a place with a star - call people? Text people? If you cannot seat them - erm, booked them into a place you like? Be helpful? ✖️the star is more then just the food, it’s the experience. Getting turned away at the door with nothing, left us both REALLY disappointed.
Gets some suggestions: 🔘you need some ‘back up’ indoor space. Bura windows are common here (I know that for sailing). There is a lot of unused space in old town, this could be a deal to use another restaurant space - or similar 🔘call people - try to sort something different. If you cannot do it, offer to book people into other local restaurants which you like (lots of good food here). 🔘consider relocation, as noticed number area in old town are better sheltered (we eat at one)
You’d find others would have appreciated the effort and might have left you a good review even if they didn’t eat with you.
We were not the only one disappointed by this, we saw other guest annoyed.
Please try harder and have back up plans if this...

Went to LD restaurant as a group of five, had a reservation for which we got on time and was asked to wait for 5-10 minutes. After returning 15-20 minutes later we were told to wait further 5 minutes as our table was still not ready - this was due to overbooking, when we arrived there were still people sitting on our table, classic example of double booking went wrong. When we sat down there were a bunch of other mistakes - we couldn't get an ashtray for 10+ minutes asked 2 times until someone got up from the table and went to ask them to bring it personally. They constantly forgot things to do - bringing water to the table, checking if we needed anything etc. Tables were rather small but they decided to put 5 of us on a table for 4 where we barely had any room, and then in the middle of the dinner they decided to get us up and add a table. When asked to put water somewhere else so we can have more room we were told ok but ignored completely after. Waiters were always having some random banter among themselves, throwing corks on each other and there were often periods of several minutes where not a single one got to the terrace to check if anybody needed anything (at the very least there were 6-7 different waiters in the shift for roughly 10-12 tables at maximum; when there was nobody out there were still 4+ tables with guests). Food was decent altogether, none of the courses were fantastic but dessert was one of the best you can find in Michelin starred restaurant in Croatia (or fine dining in general). In general food was average for a restaurant of this level while service was far below expectations and definitely not worthy of a Michelin star -...
Read moreJust today, I posted three reviews about the Michelin-starred restaurants we visited on my friend’s 50th birthday trip—and last night’s experience was the final stop on this incredible journey.
It’s easy to see why this restaurant has earned a Michelin star. The chef’s passion shines through in every course. My girlfriend had the vegetarian tasting menu, and she said—without hesitation—it was her favourite meal out of all the Michelin-star restaurants we’ve visited over the past two weeks. I’d agree that two of the courses were among the most flavourful and beautifully presented dishes we’ve ever eaten, anywhere. The fish dish in the attached photo and their take on Gyoza are amazing, along with the wagyu beef.
That said, the one thing that stood out—and not in the best way—was the service. It was extremely formal, almost like something out of a Parisian film. While that might be exactly what some people are looking for, we found it a bit overly stiff, especially in contrast to the warm, engaging service we experienced elsewhere. We tried to connect and engage with the staff, but they didn’t crack a smile or show much interest in the human side of the experience.
If you’re looking for outstanding food and precision, this restaurant is unquestionably worth a visit. But if, like us, you also value a bit of warmth, personality, and cultural connection during your dining experience, that may be something they could consider enhancing...
