Villa Zaca — Hotel in Jelsa

Did a lot of research before coming here, and I wish someone had written a review like this for us to read.||Large, clean room, balcony over water (and bar), aircon, good sized fridge, good WiFi, no TV. Comfortable bed, with weird sheet arrangement. Great view & superb swimming in crystal clear water, if not too windy. Bar & food on ground floor or very good restaurant a few steps away.||Small shop & ATM nearby.||Could have been better communication from host on what is where, and how everything works in this part of the world.||Beware the streets are very narrow paved donkey tracks which make the Amalfi coast road look like a highway. Makes for a very exciting drive to anywhere else on the island.||Prices were surprisingly expensive compared to Greece or Italy.||English (Australian ?) is commonly spoken.||||The peaceful atmosphere was shattered toward the end of our stay when possibly school holidays started & the tourist floodgates opened.||Zavala was suddenly seething with eastern european families & feral children totally out of control. The highlight was having a nappy changed on the table next to us while we were having lunch. Screaming naked toddlers everywhere. Kid friendly indeed. Beautiful and quiet place right by the sea. We took the ferry from Split to Hvar and this place is about a 45 min taxi ride from the port. They had amazing breakfast every morning. There's a bar on the first floor that serves burgers and pizza. Cash only for payment. There is an ATM at the house next door. They don't have a variety of cocktail drinks. There is a great restaurant 2 houses up the hill and they serve great food. The staff have limited English but they were very accommodating. They have a nice trail along the coast line where you get to soak in the beautiful scenery. The beach is not sandy so bring swimming shoes if you plan on getting in the water. And FYI , the rooms on the side are a lot smaller than all the other rooms. We went as a group and found out the side rooms were smaller than the one I was in. They have AC. The rooms are pretty basic. No tv in the one I was in. The view from my balcony was amazing! A nice place to visit if you want to just relax and rest. We came to konoba in lunch time. After we sat down we waited for 15 minutes hoping that someone would have noticed us. They didn't. We had to call them waving with our hands. There were only 2 employees, but terrace was full of people. We noticed that other people wait just as long as we. When we finally got waiter's attention, we couldn't order anything to eat, but just drinks he said. He said that they have already too much of orders on food, so we would have to wait for minimum 30 minutes just to give order for food. 🤔 So we ordered drinks and waited for another 10 minutes and guess what - nothing happened. So we just left. Without food, drink or anything. What kind of mathematics do you need to know that 2 persons can't do it all?? They need more stuff, or faster one. I don't remember that I have been waiting for drinks that long...
