Our time in Split was disappointing and mostly marred by our stay in this hotel. I've read other recent reviews and they are accurate when they mention that there was no air conditioner (AC) or Wi-Fi. We called a day before about our check-in and the hotel did not let us know that their air conditioner was not working. When we arrived, they let us know that they had two fans for us, but the room temperature felt worse than outside as we are in the middle of the summer (I remember it being around 86 degree Fahrenheit or 30 in Celsius). The hotel promised us "free" beach seats, "free" parking, or a meal, but we wanted none of those things. We had paid for AC and Wi-Fi as it's advertised on Hotel Split's website. We tried to talk to Anna or Ana, the reception desk lady, who was hostile and rude, she laughed in our faces. The hotel had no intention of fixing up the AC or Wi-Fi issue. They thought that because it's high season and nearly everything's booked everywhere else that we weren't going to cancel. We made Anna/Ana come to the room to check how our Wi-Fi did not work, she tried on her phone pretending it worked. Then she screamed at us after we voiced our dissatisfaction and frustration with the whole situation, asking her if the hotel was able to own up to the situation in a real way -- not with beach seats, parking, or a meal (we're all vegetarian and picky diners). Later she sent someone from staff to "fix" the situation by giving us another Wi-Fi option that also did not worked. The staff person told us that other guests had complained about Wi-Fi while Anna had previously said that no one had complains about the internet connection. The safety box also didn't work, and Anna, again, did not offered a solution. In the end, we cancelled our last night at this hotel and Split and left for Dubrovnik earlier. I would not recommend this hotel as it seemed to us that they think they can advertise that they have AC and Wi-Fi and get away with it just because, other than Anna/Ana, the staff people were nice, which made us feel bad because of their seemingly kindness while they offered us mediocre compensations on behalf of the hotel's management. Mind you, these aren't "luxurious" things in the Western world. I wouldn't even deem them "amenities," as AC is necessary anywhere you go during a scorchingly hot summer and Wi-Fi is simply a necessity nowadays for connection purposes to the outer world (do I even need to explain the Wi-Fi portion? It's the XXI Century). We asked the manager to give us back 10% for the two nights we spent there -- haven't heard back yet. We felt scammed, truly, and if you don't want your summer vacation to be ruined, avoid Hotel Split at all cost and spend you...
Read moreWe chose this hotel because of it's location and 4 start rating. We stayed in September and paid for large room with a balcony and sea view. |The room was indeed very large and we got a seaview terrace however, there was a large concreted area with large metal railings at the end of the terrace which partially blocked the sea view. We would have been much happier with a balcony or something that actually had a good seaview for that price! If you are planning to book for the views then make sure it's not a terrace. Having said that we did have sunlounges which was nice to relax on after the beach. |The decor in the room wasn't to our liking - it was dark red and a bit dated with some dirty walls. One bedside table lamp was missing. The bathroom was nice and modern, however part of the shower cubicle wasn't properly sealed so the water kept pouring onto the floor around the loo. Air conditioning can only be controlled from the from desk which is inconvenient and annoying. The bed was comfortable and clean. Plenty of wardrobe space. No iron which for 4 star hotel should have been there. Two very small bottles of water in the fridge.|In terms of the facilities I would say it's not spectacular. The pool is ok. However the gym is laughable. Big empty room (hot) with one treadmill and old fashioned cross trainer. Small box with some light dumbbells and that's about it. No yoga mats, no water, no towels and no staff)). |Breakfast was nothing to shout about - fairly average and same every single day. Again for a 4 star hotel very average. Staff was ok - a bit robotic. |The beach was nice - great location if you want quiet clean beach with a few small food stalls and restaurants. Sunbeds are 25 euros for two people per day, but you don't have to use them - hotel supplies free beach towels you can use instead and there are some wooden sunshades already in place. |There is a bus stop 5 min walk from the hotel and it runs roughly every half hour. Split is about 17-20 min ride. |Overall I would rate this hotel 3 star as there is much room for improvement for the price we paid (which wasn't cheap). We loved the location but we would book...
Read moreTo be honest , unfortunately the hotel does not meet its 4 star standard as these are the points the hotel should consider in future.
Location is not great as Split is a big city so its kind of isolated which could be an advantage when there is a few things around or something at least , i mean its either the hotel is amazing that you dont need anything or it gets an okay where you need look for other things to explore.
For 250 euro per night , i think sun beds on the beach should be inclusive lol. I mean come on , i need to get my towel to lay down on the beach when i am a guest ?
This my third city after dubrovnik and hvar , everywhere your charged by their own currency which us khuna and here everything is in euros priced ...
The pictures of the hotel is totally misleading , so the pool is not facing the beach where it could be as they have a huge terrace , jacuzzi included in the picture of the hotel but it only belongs to exclusive rooms which means hotel needs to include them in room images and not general images so attract customers because at the end of the day we pay for this hotel and we end up with a bad image. The pool could be a little cleaner to be honest.
So i dont think its the fact that am use to good service , its just that the other night we stayed in Hvar in this beautiful villa for 150 euros per night and it really deserved a 4 star even though it was a 3.5 star .
I just had a good impression of the local people and i feel kind of a waste paying here so much where you need to pay for sun beds or you cant even get simple help from the working people with your luggage.
This is whats making the small boutique hotels famous is that their unique and the customer service is much more nicer...
