Gooshter Beach Club — Restaurant in Općina Podstrana

My family and I have been visiting this beach club for years, but this year the quality and standards have significantly declined. If you don't show up at your reserved sunbed within 30 minutes, the staff (including the manager!) will ask incoming guests to remove your personal belongings (bag, sunglasses, phone) and place them on the ground so they can take your spot. This happened even when we arrived just in time, and they argued with us, insisting they had the right to do so. This is outrageous, especially considering we woke up very early to secure our spot. Several other guests have complained about this too, and it's infuriating to return and find your personal items on the ground.

As for the beach club’s restaurant, the food was generally good, but the service we received was unlike anything we've ever experienced before. When you’re paying €200-250 at a beach bar, you expect proper treatment and manners. At one point, I corrected a server, reminding them that we ordered two waters instead of one, and they responded with extremely rude Croatian swear words. Little did they know that someone at our table understood Croatian. The server then proudly recounted the incident to their colleagues, laughing. This was a disaster, and we will not be returning. This magic place has a special place in my heart. Especially when there is live music. Sunsets overlooking marina with absolutely incredible cocktails! The best espresso martini I’ve ever had in my life! But one particular situation has won me forever. I’m from Ukraine, so I visit Croatia once in a year. Last year I’ve stayed quite far from this place. So during my last visit I had only 2 spare hours in Podstrana and there was no place I’d rather spend that time. But unfortunately when I got there they were about to close for a private event. I can’t describe how upset I was. I’ve explained how important to me was co come back and enjoy this amazing place after one year and I won’t have another opportunity till the next year. After short negotiations I’ve agreed for takeaway cocktail even though it was not exactly how I pictured it. And they sensed that!) So I’m sitting there and waiting for my cocktail and hostess comes back with it in a proper glass telling me that she asked manager and they have decided to let me stay. I couldn’t be more happy and grateful. Guys, I wish you all the best, you’ll be always successful when there are this kind of people in charge. Already looking forward...

I would give this spot 2.5 stars. One star for value. The sunbeds were great and really good value. However, the place is just way too overpriced for what it is. Drinks were like $18, and loaded with ice. I don’t even pay that much for a cocktail at a nice restaurant in NYC. The beach is public so it’s packed with kids, the music is really low, and there’s a boat inlet right by the beach club so the water is dirtier than most beaches in the area. Some of the drinks were good but others were pretty watery by the time they got to us. I had three drinks and didn’t feel the slightest buzz. We had the fajitas which were pretty good and then the turkey sandwich which was so sad. If this place is trying to play themselves off as high end, they shouldn’t be putting out food that looks like it’s been sitting in the sun all day. The service was good, probably the best part of the experience. But we paid $180 total for two people which is just so expensive by Croatian standards and just not memorable at all.
