La Posada de Chacón — Hotel in Cuba

I cannot say enough good things about La Posada de Chacón! The inn is just so lovely - a converted colonial house with tons of charm and warmth. Its location is ideal - right in the middle of Old Havana, and next to a touristic block with plenty of restaurants. So I always felt safe in the area, and appreciated all the great food options nearby. (Plus, there are a few adorable cats near the restaurants, and I personally enjoyed playing with them lol but that might be a me thing!) I stayed in both a twin/premium room and junior suite - both good sizes, tidy with private bathrooms, but the junior suite was so much better than I imagined! Very spacious with lovely amenities like comfy robes and slippers. The included breakfast is fantastic! The presentation looks like something from a top-rated restaurant, and I loved their coffee. The lobby itself is so pleasant and airy, it's lovely just to spend an afternoon sitting and drinking if you want. And lastly, the staff is unbeatable! Gloria and Andres were incredible: so friendly, reassuring and willing to listen to my MANY questions. They helped with everything from restaurant recs, to a mini-emergency regarding my luggage. The lock and zipper had been damaged in transit, and I was worried about securing it for my return. But they said no problem, and helped me wrap the suitcase before leaving. Travel to Cuba can be stressful, but La Posada de Chacon makes your visit as worry-free as possible!! Would 100% stay here...

Wonderful casa particulare located in the heart of old Havana. Legal for Americans to stay there. Totally modernized inside with plenty of hot water and new bathroom. Wi-Fi works well and I was able to work from hotel via google meets. Had two rooms suite with my own front door to the street. Lovely airy breakfast room and lobby and every morning had beautiful hot breakfast lovingly prepared by chef Carlos. This breakfast is included in your price! Fancy coffee machine with wonderful drinks at breakfast also included. The best thing is the staff .....they are better than American efficiency. Giselle,manager, is very attentive to emails and will help you make arrangements for excursions or taxis. Gloria, Andress and Alith are the most dedicated, warm and professional staff to take care of any needs you may have. They are one of the best parts of staying here! My room had very easy to operate good AC and fan unit. Super comfortable bed. Refrigerator in room and robes too! The street is very busy, however you are in the heart of everything and free walking tours meets next door at the church every morning. Also there's a sweet little alley adjacent that is filled with restaurants and live bands and very convenient to take meals there. You can walk to all the major sites of old Havana. I stayed 11 nights and really hated to leave it! Also hotel staff will change your dollars or euros for you at a very good...

La Posada Havana was a lovely place to stay – centrally located, clean, and full of charm. What truly made our visit special were the people. Laura made our stay incredibly enjoyable with her warmth and hospitality, and Aliev was always ready with helpful tips about the city. Their friendliness and willingness to help made a big difference. I would absolutely stay here again.

The rooms were clean, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and we didn’t experience any power outages during our stay. Breakfast was simple but good, and there are plenty of nice restaurants just around the corner. If you feel like having a drink in the evening, there are also some great bars nearby.

Tips for visiting Havana:

Since the pandemic, many locals are struggling economically – be kind, but cautious. Take a free walking tour – it’s a great way to learn about the city. Ignore people who approach you talking about a cigar or rum festival – these are common scams. Always check reviews before choosing a restaurant.
