This is the closest hotel&casino&spa to the border where unrecognized TRNC attracts internationals and Cypriots. Here they have security officers by the entrance who just forgets human being but only being racist and discriminate people by their looks. This place should teach to staff that there are many many international people visiting the casino and most of the the time either they pay the hotel room, visit spa and make payment or 99,9% they lose in casino. Which means people pay money and also lose money here, what i mean is nothing is free and customers don’t owe them anything! And moreover casino players lose money! HOWEVER, uneducated people who stands by door who knows only Turkish language cannot speak English (I wonder how they are hired by this place) and as a 34 year old man they stopped me, they asked to check my ID. As i have been to every single casino in North literally,i know the rules that minimum age is 25 and have never been asked. I told him that i am not less then 25 and i have players card in my pocket from Pasha Saray and Kyrenia branches. After that he said something in Turkish and of course I didn’t understand what he told me. Can you imagine a person with €5000 in pocket coming here from Larnaca airport facing this-after that i showed him my Ireland Identity Card and told him “you are mistaken-i am not younger then 25” he didn’t understand what i meant exactly but from my body language as i was laughing and was not taking him serious as I know myself and my age,all i was trying to do was take everything positive -his ego was much more like a general from the military ,not an uneducated man who just wears suit and tie and stands by entrance. He didn’t say anything to me but gave my ID card to reception, he was literally giving my ID card to another people without my consent and my Turkish speaking friend told me that he made a check on me if i was blacklisted there and directly told me the situation. So i asked him if i was blacklisted why would i come here, am i stupid? And he the way he replied in Turkish was “i never know” . I wonder if i was a Turkish man directly entering to casino , would he do the same, or as an Irish citizen whose parents are Turkish Cypriots, so i can be considered as local, can he act like this to locals as well? Instead of replying me “i never know” he could reply it in better way! After that as he seen my friend translated me, he also asked ID of my friend as he is 45 year old man with white hair and it is obvious, my friend showed him casino’s player card as my friend is local and regular visitor. So he again wanted ID. my friend said “look,i am not liar as you might think that i am young but i have white hair it is obvious and i show you my player card of this casino” security asked again and just to stop him talk, my friend gave his ID. He said “i am doing my job” and my friend replied-“if this is your job you should be successful on it and you should understand 25+ people from their appearance, also identify regular players we are not liars”he replied that many people come and say lies about their age and they end up taking those people out of casino… so my friend replied again, “we are not liars” he replied back “i never know” while this was happening 5 Turkish boys (cannot consider as man as they were too young, not a hair on their face) directly entered and he welcomed them. What i mean is if you are a kind man and they see you manners, behaviors like this they think it’s being poor, they don’t understand it as they have never seen it -lack of education, empathy and culture. Total discrimination by identity card and appearance (racism as well). Both for locals and internationals. Hopefully in any other casinos I have never faced this but just welcoming with a smile. Please educate your staff and...
Read moreGrand Pasha Hotel|I stayed in room 407 for two nights. I noticed that this hotel is quite outdated as far as interior decor is concerned. The furniture in the room is nice but old & scuffed up, the mattress was mediocre, the showerhead is on it's final days & plumbing in the bathtub needs to be replaced. The shower stall is not completely sealed so water gets all over the floor and reaches the carpeting in the room. The TV in the room is very old and tiny, smallest TV I have ever seen in a hotel. The ancient modem is also located on the work desk, it adds to the 90's dated feel in the room. From the bed you can barely see what is going on the screen and the remote was not working properly. The channel selection was poor with maybe two English channels with Turkish dubbing. I don't know how many stars the Pasha hotel is but they should have a large smart TV during this day and age. The room service was lovely, quick and the food was great. My favorite was their Thai Seafood Salad + Thin dough Margarita Pizza. I wasn't very impressed with the housekeeping staff since they did not restock the mini-bar or the coffee/sugar packages in the room. They also did not restock the small sanitary packages in the bathroom, shower gel etc. Since they didn't restock the mini bar I had no water so I had to call room service to bring me drinking water. Breakfast was not consistent, one morning they had a good selection of international (continental) food and the next they only had a small selection of Mediterranean type of basic food. 8:00am I had to ask Simge; kitchen staff to bring out some butter. They didn't even have butter or margarine out at the buffet. The kitchen staff needs training and maybe a checklist for what food to out out. August 8th- No Coffee is served in the breakfast hall. I had to walk outside to the swimming pool area for coffee, I asked for a cappuccino, waiter Mustafa said 'No Milk'. I asked for powdered coffee creamer and 4 of the staff working at the swimming pool area did not understand me. THEY DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. |There is a hairdresser at the hotel, he is a talented experienced man. He did a lovely updo for me which lasted well into the night at the casino! On a more positive note, Ali Kucuk was our driver, he also provided us with a lot of information and historic explanations about Cyprus. He is a true gentleman, very professional driver. Sevtap at reception speaks fluent English, she was very helpful with checking and checkout. Claiming to be a 5 star hotel but not even close by...
Read moreI booked this hotel as a nice few nights away with my partner for her birthday. I emailed the hotel on 3 different occasions prior to arrival for recommendations for a luxury restaurant meal. Not a single reply!|I did not expect any preferential treatment for my partners birthday but not a single welcome, happy birthday, bottle of wine, bowl of fruit. Nothing. |When we checked into our room the plug in the bath would not open and the handle on the wall, for safety getting in and out of the bath was hanging loose.|One evening the electricity went completely out and we were left in total darkness. The hotel did not have any safety lighting in the room or corridor. If we did not have a light on our phones, we would be crawling around trying to get out. This is a health and safety failure of the biggest. How did this pass fire safety regulations?|The pool is under cover near a relaxing area and also a dining area. It's a lovely big pool but it was freezing cold. A 5 star hotel should be capable of keeping it warm. I doubt anybody will use it now until next year when the sun shines through the glass roof to heat it up. It's a waste because it could be used.|I took a pair of trousers and shirt for our birthday meal but they needed a quick iron. The hotel does NOT have an iron!!!! I would have to use the laundry service that would cost over £10 to iron my shirt and trousers. They did not need washing. And it would take how long. I have never been to any hotel that could not provide an iron o4 an area, where I could quickly iron a few creases out of my clothes. |At breakfast I asked for English breakfast tea. Initially it was good then they bought me Earl Grey. I put milk in and then realised it was wrong once I tasted it. I sent it back and did receive English breakfast tea. However, 10 minutes later I asked for another. They simply microwaved previous cup of earl grey that I had sent back out brought it out to me. I know, because it had the milk and sugar already in it. Disgusting..|All in all, I was not impressed and I will certainly be looking at other 5 star hotels in the area in future....
