I’d actually rate Pension Primus with 4.5 stars if it were possible. Just wanted to say there is still some place for improvement.
We booked Pension Primus for 3 nights via Booking.com. Our friends stayed in the next room, and we can all recommend Pension Primus. The property was very clean, well-equipped with everything necessary, and offered a standard yet tasty breakfast.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind before arrival. After booking, we received a link to self-register in their app. This process required us to input personal details for all guests and pay a city tax of €0.80 per person per night, which we initially overlooked. This led to some confusion when we were prompted to pay 180 CZK to access our room details for check-in. Once the payment was made via card, we received the room number and access codes for both the main entrance and the room. Door codes that can either be entered manually or accessed via the app. We traveled with friends, and while their registration partially worked, their app account did not display the room number or access code. This issue was resolved after a phone call to reception, where they reset the room code. They did not speak English, we communicated in German and Russian as we didn’t speak Czech. Although this was a slight inconvenience, all our requests were addressed, and the process went smoothly overall.
We arrived at night, and the parking area was not lit. However, there are marked parking spaces, and it’s important to park within the lines; otherwise, other guests may struggle to find available spots. Some light in the parking area at night would be helpful.
Our rooms were located on the second floor, accessible via a long steel staircase. While this wasn’t an issue for us, it might be worth noting for some guests. On the bright side, the views from the second floor were fantastic.
Initially, we had trouble finding the WiFi details - they were included in the registration email as it turned out. It would be more convenient if this password were also added to the app or written somewhere in the room. So some things felt a bit like a quest for us.
We will definitely return and recommend this place to others. Now that we’re familiar with the check-in process and other details, we know how to make things even smoother next time. The friendly, welcoming owners, affordable prices, and calm surroundings make Pension Primus a...
Read moreStayed with my family at this pension in the Czech Republic for three nights. The location is convenient if you’re traveling by car: only a couple of kilometers from the toll highway, with a nearby gas station offering reasonable prices. Walking is not a viable option, but it’s easy to reach by car. If you book upper floors in winter, be cautious: the metal stairs can be slippery, especially with ice. Rubber mats for safety would be a good addition.
The pension offers breakfast — minimal but sufficient to start the day. Upon request, the hosts can make fried eggs using fresh eggs from their own chickens. The pension is run as a family business, which is noticeable in the personal touch.
There are some inconveniences with the entry system: you need to enter a code on the door handles, which doesn’t always work correctly. The app-based setup is also not very user-friendly. It’s a modern solution, but not suitable for everyone.
The room was decent but needs renovation. Some furniture is outdated, and the bed edges stick out, making it easy to bump into them. The shower in our room was small, hot water came from a boiler, and the toilet seat was damaged. Additionally, paint was peeling off the radiators. The TV was small, and only German channels were available.
Parking is available, but the hosts ask you to park within red lines, which are hard to see at night, causing some inconvenience.
One important note: when booking through Booking.com, the price shown on the website does not include the so-called city tax. We had to pay an additional 6-7 euros upon check-in. This was an unpleasant surprise that was not mentioned anywhere beforehand. It would be better if such details were communicated in advance so that guests are fully informed about all costs before arrival.
Overall, the pension is suitable for an overnight stay. Keep in mind it’s a family-run business, not a chain hotel, so some shortcomings are understandable. Beautiful views, friendly hosts, and proximity to Prague (about 30 km or a 30-minute drive) make it a convenient option for...
Read moreIt is already 2 month since my wife and I returned from our European holiday that we are still talking about and also about beautiful accommodation at pension Primus in Beroun. As we were both born in Czech rep. and we knew that we don't want to stay in busy and overcrowded Prague during summer school holidays we were looking for a nice town with a close proximity to Prague (capital city ). Beroun with it's great location (20 minutes to Prague by bus ) was an obvious choice. It is a charming town with a river passing through the middle and surrounded by forests, it's also very close (by train if you don't have a car ) to several fames castles (Karlštejn and Křivoklát ).We were looking for a place to stay on the internet and pension Primus seemed to be the best presented. And we were not disappointed. Lovely owners, every day breakfast also with home made cakes and a good coffee served on tables certainly covered with white cloth covers. The most remarkable was our bed (huge with a memory foam and snow white sheets) probably the best bed in any hotel I have ever tried. To walk to the city centre took approximately 15 minutes and there you can find plenty of restaurants with really good prices. The view from the pension is absolutely splendid as you can see the entire city from your windows. This could be one of the reasons why a lot of guests return to the pension regularly every year which is quite impressive. We stayed full six weeks and we have already decided that on our next European tour this must be our accommodation definitely once again and we just cannot...
