Pension Rondel — Hotel in okres Nymburk

Podebrady isn’t your high-powered, happenin’ spa town like Karlovy Vary or Marienbad. But it’s a great place to kick back and see how the Czechs spend a weekend. If you go, you can’t stay in a better place than the Pension Rondel. It’s a small, family-run pension on an unassuming back street. The building has been totally rebuilt and modernized. Some features such as ceiling beams were saved and re-used in the new building. There’s a lovely little interior courtyard with flowers. ||Our room was outstanding. Exposed rustic beams, tile floor, tasteful rustic wardrobe and chest, modern flat-screen TV, table and small sofa, modern bathroom. ||Breakfast was ample.||The staff are top-notch; they went out of their way to be welcoming and kind. Klara speaks excellent English and was available to check us in and give us whatever tourist information we needed. We communicated with the other staff as best we could in broken Czech and rusty Russian. Maria gave us a freshly cut rose from the garden. ||Other guests were a mixture of sporty cyclists stopping for a night and older more sedate guests who appeared to be staying for the spa treatments.||The location of the Rondel was perfect for our interests. If you’re not interested in the spa treatments (we didn’t partake), there’s a delightful paved path along the peaceful Elbe river, which is just a few yards in back of the Pension Rondel. The weekend we were there, there were strollers, roller-bladers, and bicyclists galore. The Czech bicyclists give no warning when they pass, so it can be a bit unnerving. But the walks are delightful. Overall experience was great, I have no complaints. The Wi-Fi could be faster and they could offer scrambled eggs for breakfast but these are just improvement suggestions. Breakfast was good - cereals, juice, salami, cheese, hard boiled eggs, jam, some sweets etc. |The room is big and well equipped, it has a TV which I haven't turned on, a hairdryer (sometimes they don't have it when you need it the most), a little "kitchen" inside a cute closet with a sink, microwave, water boiler and splayd (knifes, forks, spoons etc.)|The bed was pretty firm on the first impression but I ended up having the best sleep I got in months. I probably need to change my mattress at home 😅.|Rooms are also wheelchair accessible, they have a pool (which I saw) and sauna (which I read about and didn't see).|The host is very nice and kind but I kinda got the impression the kindness wasn't genuine. Ráda bych napsala naši zkušenost s tímto ubytováním. Pobyt 4 noci, 2 dospělí 3 děti (věk 8, 8 a 5 let), velký apartmán. Já se svými dětmi jsem zde byla poprvé, kamarádka s dcerou již poněkolikáté. Poděbrady jsou její oblíbené místo, proto jsme zde chtěli společně stravit pár pěkných dní. Hned při příjezdu však nastala neprijemnost s paní, která nás ubytovávala, a to proto, že penzion prý děti neuvytovava. Věk všech dětí byl však uveden v objednávce, kterou penzion potvrdil, čímž s věkem děti souhlasil. Ubytování jsme nakonec dostali, avšak v průběhu odpoledne jsme byli paní upozorněni, že se mají děti ztišit, že nesmí nahlas říkat, že voda v bazénu je slaná, protože nikoho ze starších klientů to nezajímá a děti hosty ruší. Naše děti se chovaly zcela bezproblémově, nekřičely, neběhaly, pokud byl v bazénu někdo další, drželi jsme je u sebe, aby i ostatní měli svou pohodu. Kamarádka pro jistotu týž den s paní majitelkou telefonovala a byla jí ujištěna, že je vše v pořádku. Následující den u snídaně jsme byli opět překvapeni, když najednou nebyl džus (bez jakékoli omluvy) s odkazem, že si máme nalít vodu. Jsme stejně platící zákazníci, jako všichni ostatní, proto není důvod, proč bychom neměli čerpat stejné služby. Další dny probíhaly celkem klidně, paní z recepce (jméno neuvádím jen kvůli GDPR) děti dokonce pochválila, že jsou tiché a hodné, což skutečně byly po celou dobu pobytu. Poslední den u snídaně jsme ovšem opět dostali za vyučenou. Stejná paní začala děti okřikovat, aby byly potichu jen proto, že se ptaly, co je ke snídani (opravdu se jen polohlasne ptaly, nekřičely), opět jsme dostali poučení, že penzion děti neuvytovava. Pokud tomu tak skutečně je, je třeba, aby si ten kdo potvrzuje rezervace, také pořádně přečetl jejich obsah a včas upozornil, že děti do tohoto ubytování nemohou. Tento zážitek z poslední snídaně v nás opravdu zanechal negativní stopu, přesto, že jinak je ubytování hezké, čisté a příjemné. Bohužel však ne personál.
