Beware extra costs, false advertising and rude owner. Avoid this place at all costs. The owner verbally abused me when I tried to clarify why he was making us pay an additional charge. I felt unsafe and scared in his presence. It is clear that the owner is purposefully trying to deceive guests into thinking the cost is reasonable, then adding on additional costs to make more money, costs that are charged to his personal mobile pay, not through the booking.com website.||||If you do not check in between 2pm-5pm you are charged an additional 400DKK late check in fee. If you stay for only one night, this effectively doubles the cost of the accommodation ($475DKK per night at the time of writing). Unfortunately our car broke down about an hour from Skagen and we called the owner but he was not willing to waive the late checkin fee. Note, there is nothing on the booking.com site about a late check in fee, it was only after I had paid for the non-refundable booking that I found out about the fee via the the confirmation message.||||Linen fee is $100DKK PER person, another $100DKK is also charged for cleaning (if you do not pay this you are expected to vacuum the room yourself). Our room did not appear to have been cleaned very well at all and there were strange marks on the couch cover. If you add on these additional fees (linen, cleaning, late checkin) it brings the total cost from $475DKK to $1,175DKK, over double the original accommodation fee.||||Supposedly there is wifi, however it was not strong enough to load a webpage - I ran an internet speed test whilst connected to the wifi (15/10/2023 - screenshot included), download speed = 4.23mbps upload speed 10.56mbps (a good speed is at least 25mbps). We were unable to use Netflix due to a recurring message popping up that could not be exited - it appears to be some kind of unofficial plugin, not an actual smart TV.||||The listing mentions free Tea and Coffee but there was no tea, only a container of coffee. No milk / crema or sugar that you could normally expect.||||The fridge was not working in the kitchen, and we had to use one downstairs that wasn't turned on (so took time to reach temperature).||||The lock on the door to our room was so loose it was almost impossible to lock, and listing states all rooms have wooden floors (this is false, ours had carpet squares covering the floor).||||We asked for a receipt for the late checkin fee - the owner said he would come and drop it off at our room, however we were out walking at the time so he then proceeded to enter the room when we were not there, violating our privacy. He then verbally abused my friend saying we had used the linen, which was incorrect, we had used a sleeping bag and a large poncho on the beds, and the linen was completely untouched on the shelf as it was when we arrived. He claimed we had violated the house rules but we tried to calmly ask him to show us where it said we couldn’t use the beds with our own sleeping bags / blankets.||||The multiple paintings of naked women on the walls was not at all tasteful, in fact rather disturbing, and was not something I expected to see in a quaint artistic town like Skagen.||||In addition, there are a number of unrelated activities mentioned that are activities in the area but not at all connected to this accommodation, such as tennis court, golf course, art galleries, live music etc, none of these are part of the accommodation, another example of the owner trying to deceive / advertise services that are not part of the accommodation he is offering.||||I have never experienced a man so rude and intimidating in a customer service role, and I truly hope that my review will save others from having to go through the frustration, disappointment, and additional unforeseen costs that we were...
Read moreNot many options for our last minute booking, so ended up here. The location is fantastic, couple of minutes walk from all the best cafes and five minutes walk from the harbor. Yet totally quiet at night. That's it for the good news.|Now for the bad news. Small room with bed and not much else. There was single power socket, and the wiring dated to early thirties. Kitchen in the main building up a staircase. Two bathrooms down a flight of stairs. The cabinet above sink has not been cleaned for months. Lighting in the bathroom basement was accessible once you navigated the stairs down in the dark.|The extra 100 DKK we paid for the cleaning was waist of money as there was nothing to clean.|To run the place requires no effort at all as guests do all the work.|1200 DKK per night? Read moreThis place is not to make you feel welcome. We had booked and payed in advance 2 little cottages in the garden and when we arrived , we found the owner half naked on our bed, having a massage from his wife!!! I just got the time to push away my young daughter and was so shocked that i couldn't find my words. We immediately left the place. Not even excuses from the owner of the place!! Back home we send them e-mails to, at least get back the money for the sheets and towels that were payed extra cost. The only answer we got was that it was not their problem. Nothing to add about such an answer. It says enough about the person in charge of this place. Honesty and respect are not the leading points in this hotel.. ||Family Hubert...
