Edit: This is a complete overhaul of my review. I was pretty upset at the time of writing. However, a day later, and to be fair, I completely reworked my review.
tl;dr: The pizza itself is pretty good, but the price is relatively high, and the Service is bad.
To start with the positive: The pizza dough was very delicious, it's made of sourdough. This comes with a special taste of the pizza, which I enjoy. The pizzas ordered by my friends were well composed and quite delicious (even though they are pretty expensive)
Now we come to the part of why I was so frustrated with my visit: I ordered a Marinara with sardines on it. The Marinara comes without cheese (which I missed, but that was my mistake), and the pickled sardines are cold, so they have an unusual taste (even though I usually love sardines). However, so far, none of this justifies a bad review, as it could be a matter of personal taste (even though I still argue that the price-performance ratio of the Marinara with Sardines is quite bad, and is not as well composed as other pizzas). What realy frustrated me during my visit was that I didn't notice that I didn't like my food at all (I placed the uneaten food next to me on an empty seat). Even when the waitress took the uneaten food, there was no reaction. (She asked if she should pack it, but I refused and told her that I disliked it). Generally, in such a case, I would expect a small consultation (even just an espresso would have lifted my mood quite a lot!), especially in a restaurant with a higher price point. That the service is not the best also agrees with other reviews...
So, all in all, if you are okay with paying a higher price, you can get good pizza here, albeit with non-optimal service and a less-than-ideal personal experience. I cannot recommend that place.
Let me close with some constructive feedback: since other reviewers also criticized the Marinara, it could avoid confusion by making it clearer in the menu that the Marinara is a pizza without cheese (e.g., by placing it in a separate category). Secondly, from my point of view, what is even more important is that it could help to state in the menu that the bonus ingredients are placed on the pizza after baking (and are...
Read moreJuicy & Pizza is a nice and cozy place that I found when strolling through Skagen. There were pictures of the pizza out there and at first sight I could not believe that those are actual pictures from the pies of this place: astonishing, perfectly hand crafted neapolitan pizza with great leoparding on the fluffy crust. I asked a woman outside who told me that she, her sister and husband are running this place and that those were actual pictures of their pizzas. So I was totally invested and came back the next day. I ordered a classic beer and a pizza margherita. The thermometer on the Manna Forni oven was reading about 410° celsius, the pizza only took a couple of minutes from dough ball to the plate on my table. It was outstanding good. Maybe the best pizza in a restaurant I've had, at least for a long time. The crust was puffy but it wasn't a overly exaggerated canotto style pizza, just fine. There was leoparding all around and no burnt areas, the dough smelled really nice like fresh bread and had decent and pleasant sour notes to it, I think it was double fermented (may poolish) and cold proofed for a longer period. Soft and crunchy. The topping was very traditional with San Marzano tomatoes and Fior di latte, topped of with a little bit of olive oil and I think some grated Parmigianino. It was a dream. I also had a smoothie afterwards and I enjoyed that too, but the small one was definitely enough for me 😁 After my pizza I chatted with the staff. They were all really nice and the co-owner told me how this restaurant was a dream came true. You can truly feel, see and taste that....
Read moreOne of the nicest meals out we've had in a long time. We felt so welcome and looked after, and the food was delicious. They made us feel confident and welcome as vegans. I don't normally have smoothies but the choice was so varied and enticing, so I did. We had a capricosa pizza with vegan cheese and without the ham, and the vegan salad bowl to share. So colourful and flavourful. For drinks: Power and Kung Fu - gorgeous and contrasting. For dessert there was a vegan cookie but we had the ice creams (all ice cream there is plant based): chocolate brownie flavour, rum ball flavour, and raspberry and liquorice. All fab. Service was so friendly and thoughtful - even suggesting a place to go and see the sunset. One of the...
