Hostal Aruba — Hotel in Atacames

We stayed in Hostal Aruba for a very pleasant full week. Please note that this is a small family-run property, so if you're looking for a big, all-inclusive resort, this isn't it. But if you want cheerful, personal attention, a comfortable, very clean, basic room with TV and private bathroom, and a beautifully large swimming pool that's also sparkling clean, then Hostal Aruba is for you. Like many properties on the Ecuadorian coast, this one has no hot water, but this isn't a surprise if you've stayed on the coast here. The cool water was refreshing after a hot day on the beach. Clean linens and towels are provided. ||Finding good wholesome food in Atacames is a real challenge. After a couple days of pizza, we took advantage of the offer at Hostal Aruba for meals at the inn. What a wonderful surprise! We ate a variety of fish and shrimp, fresh vegetables, rice, and potatoes, along with garlic toast, fresh salads, and watermelon juice (and of course drank cold beer). Everything was prepared beautifully and tasted delicious. ||Just a block from a quiet stretch of the beach, this place is also on a quiet cul de sac away from the noisy and slightly creepy malecón bars.
