We reached out via WhatsApp before booking and were offered a better rate than what we saw online. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade and a later check-out—thoughtful touches that made our stay even more enjoyable.
The service is a true highlight—Johan and his mother are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile. From carrying our bags upstairs to offering great local tips and organizing activities, their hospitality was exceptional.
Breakfast was another standout—generous, delicious, and served on a lovely terrace overlooking the river and mountains, often visited by hummingbirds.
The peaceful garden added to the charm, especially with their sweet dog and three friendly goats wandering around. It was a real treat for animal lovers and made the place feel even more special.
While the location is a bit outside the center of Baños, it’s a beautiful, quiet area. Taxis cost just $1–$2, or it's about a 20-minute walk, which we didn’t mind.
The only minor issue was the shower could have been a bit warmer, but it wasn’t a major...

Read moreWe had a wonderful time in La Casa Verde. The house is slightly outside of the centre of Baños, but given how busy and touristic the city center is, we were glad to be in a more quiet neighbourhood. The breakfast is one of the best breakfasts I have eaten in my life. Delicious fruits, local meals like "pan de yucca", fruit juice, cereals with coconut flakes, and different sweet sauces, pancakes and many other things I am forgetting now. We always spent about an hour with breakfast as there were so many options to try. The view from the breakfast place is stunning. One can see the garden with lots of hummingbirds and other feathery friends, the Pastaza river and the hill behind it. There are inviting hammocks and tables on the terrace. We enjoyed three days there and concluded that we could easily have stayed a week. There are so many options of things to do in Baños from beautiful hikes, swimming in naturally hot water, to more adventurous activities like river rafting, canopy walks and flying foxes. We also very much enjoyed the "Casa del Arbol" with its beautiful views and humming-bird buzzing gardens and the giant swing. The staff at La Casa Verde are very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of tips...
