La Villa del Peñon Hotel & Spa. — Hotel in Baños de Agua Santa

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! Let me start out by saying that Edgar runs the most beautiful little hotel outside of Banos. He is amazing. My boyfriend and I traveled to Ecuador for a surprise birthday trip for him (I'm so nice!) and Edgar made the most special impact on this trip. The door frame was covered in balloons and streamers. He brought up 3 homemade, delicious cupcakes with sparkling candles on our first evening. He was always so helpful with the taxis and our needs. The rooms are spacious, inviting, warm - exactly what one needs. We weren't in our room most of the time because Banos allows for people to do so many unique outdoor activities. While not located within Banos, it is, no exaggeration, less than a 5 minute drive to get dropped off in town and a $1.50 taxi cost. It was worth it for us because we're really not hostel-staying people. I prefer a little more security and privacy. The sweetest thing happened on our last morning in Banos. We took a ride up to Casa del Arbol in the POURING RAIN and were soaked when we came back to the hotel. Edgar and the staff kindly placed our wet clothes in the dryer and offered to serve us breakfast even though we had just missed it. No tengo palabras suficientes para expresar mi gratitud hacia Edgar, el dueño de la Villa del Peñón, por el cariño que recibimos durante nuestros cuatro días en Baños. Sin duda, alojarme en su maravilloso hotel ha sido una de las experiencias más bonitas no solo de mi viaje a Ecuador sino a toda Sudamérica. Sentir el amor que transmite por su profesión y por su país ha sido realmente algo maravilloso que me acompañará durante mucho tiempo. El hotel se encuentra ubicado a 2 minutos en taxi del centro de la ciudad, en la zona segura de Baños, en un lugar tranquilo y alejado del bullicio del pueblo. Además, puedes ir en bus urbano fácilmente desde él hasta las atracciones como el Pailón del Diablo o la Casa del Árbol. Los taxis al centro cuestan alrededor de 1 dólar. Las habitaciones son estupendas. Muy amplias, cálidas, con todos los servicios para que te sientas como en casa y cuidadas con mucho mimo. El detalle de los bombones es realmente mágico. Cuenta con wifi gratuito que llega a todas las habitaciones. Funciona a la perfección. Pudimos trabajar e incluso ver vídeos. Cada mañana nos levantábamos felices por saber que sonrisas y un buen desayuno nos esperaba. Se nota el cariño en la cocina y, además de un servicio impoluto, nos sorprendían con una delicia ecuatoriana que Edgar se encargaba de hacernos conocer. El hotel cuenta con una estupenda zona de spa perfecta para finalizar un día repleto de adrenalina en Baños. Jacuzzi, baño turco, sauna y baños de cajón para relajarte. Además, Edgar cumple a la perfección su papel en la sauna, ayudando a que todo salga genial. Finalmente, no puedo dejar de hablar de Pascalito, uno de los perros más tiernos que he conocido en mi vida. El pekinés es la estrella del hotel y da la bienvenida a los viajeros con su alegría y sus ganas de recibir caricias. This was one of the most hospitable stays we have ever had. Edgar, who owns and runs the place, is an absolute gem of a person and a host. We 100% recommend staying here and if we are ever in Banos again, we will not stay anywhere other than Villa del Peñon! Edgar and his staff helped us with a customised vegan breakfast for my wife as well as delicious eggs for me. Hot tea was served to the room on request. None of this was charged. Edgar himself helped us with our itinerary, our bookings, helped us get cabs each and every time, rented the bikes for us, helped us change large bills, book our bus, and much more! Highly...
