Stay FAR FAR AWAY from this insulting and dirty and unprofessional business. I am absolutely furious with this shameful business and whatever loser runs it. They have insulted and infuriated me and my wife and my family TWICE now. Once two years ago, and once again today. They should be banned forever from Booking.com and all booking sites. How is it possible that such an awful business remains on your website insulting its clients repeatedly.||||First, I booked the rooms many hours in advance for my family on our vacation. Then they send me a welcome message in Booking messages. I respond to them letting them know my arrival time. When I show up to the door with my family in the middle of the night, it is extremely cold and windy outside. My family and I rang the door bell for 1 hour our hands and bodies shivering in the cold at these high altitudes. Finally a young man comes to the door and tells us to get lost, that there are no rooms available. He would not budge and would not open the door until I became completely hysterical. I said you better find a room right now buddy because we booked available rooms and you even sent us a welcome message confirming it and we drove 7 hours to get here you fool. Turns out the fool DID have available rooms he was just being a lazy and ignorant. Then he attempts to rip us off by claiming that they charge $150 per room. That is complete garbage. I have stayed here multiple times over the years and it is usually around $20/person. Finally he let my family stay in there, there were 4 available rooms! The WORST part about this is that they did the SAME thing to me 2 years ago on my honeymoon road trip. I booked a room way in advance. I show up with my wife and they said SORRY, no rooms available get lost, and we were forced to go to another dirty hostel down the road. 2 years later I was sure they MUST have fixed the problem. Well guess what Booking.com and Tripadvisor, they are still to this day screwing people. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that when I stayed their 5 years ago I left behind my jacket in a room and they stole it, it disappeared! THREE STRIKES. People do not give these crooks your money. Support other families in the village but this one needs to be wiped off the face...

We had hiked all day and were exhausted so were pretty much prepared to take any type of sleeping situation... except for this one. We ignored many of the red flags prior to attempting to get a new room. Red flags:||||- Dirt in the corner of the room (see photos)||- Sand in the sheets||- A flickering light that we couldn't turn off||- Leaky pipe in the bathroom||||It wasn't until there was a terrible sewage smell coming out of the room that we decided that even in our exhausted state we couldn't sleep with the smell. We went up to the front desk and explained the situation brought him down to the room so that he could confirm the smell. He couldn't switch the rooms because everything was booked. I had him document everything that he saw/smelled, had him sign the paper and we stayed up all night with the windows open not being able to fall asleep.||||The next day I went to the manager and found the person in charge. I referenced the note that was written the night before and had him come down and confirm the sewage smell wafting out of the room. His first response was being upset because there were rooms available and he was mad that they were unable to switch the rooms. While inspecting the room he took a phone call from an architect where I heard him talking about a transaction of 1000's of dollars. He got off the phone and told me that he would refund 20$ (which was less than half of the cost of the room). I insisted that I should be given a full refund and he refused - we ended up paying ~30$ for a room that smelled like raw sewage. ||||There were a ton of other things I could mention here but I think that you get the gist around the way this hostel operates. Customer service is clearly not a priority and the place was absolutely filthy. I've traveled around the world and this one was hands down the nastiest place I have ever stayed at. Pretty sure there was sewage sitting on the floor of the bathroom and somehow we had to pay for the majority of the room. I would recommend staying anywhere but here. ||||See the attached photos if you don't believe what I have written here. I wish I could capture the awful stench in the photos but you are going to have to use...

STAY AWAY. INCOMPETENT OWNERS AND STAFF IGNORE RESERVATIONS. LEAVE YOU OUT IN THE FREEZING COLD AT NIGHT. TRY TO OVERCHARGE YOU different price than booking BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY CAN SCAM YOU. So many issues with my stay at this hostel.A lot of the problems to do with the hostel undergoing refurbishment. We arrived to no electric in the dorm after having a really long wait at reception before being shown to our room. No water pressure and no hot water for a shower, anytime else this would have been ok, but being cold and hiking all day it really was a let down. Food portions were small and the order in which food came out was a bit of a mess. I think there are better places to stay and couldn't recommend this place for anymore than a bed. The woman at reception was nice and attentive but was overwhelmed with the restaurant to help on the hostal side.

One night stay for a group of three in a triple room. On the plus side, the bedroom and beds were clean and quite comfortable. Slept really well. Good common area too. On the downside, I don't think the staff spoke to me at all during the visit, and barely confirmed the reservation over WhatsApp for my friend who made it. Another downside: two towels were provided for the bathroom, no hand towel, and one of the shower towels was ripped. We were three adults. Considering there were only two rooms staying that night, I'd expect more attention to detail. It's located right across the street from the mirador for Quilatoa, but no great view from the hostel itself.

Great place to stay, a stone's throw from the Quilotoa Lagoon. Spacious and heated room, included in the dinner and breakfast service. Moderate price around $ 20. In clear sky conditions the panorama of the lagoon becomes amazing especially in the morning when the sunlight is very intense and there is no fog, in these moments, the color of the water of the lagoon becomes an emerald green ..... A painting of nature, there is the possibility to go down to the bottom of the lagoon beach, ATTENTION to be prepared for walks on the high ground, the difference in height is not much but you are at 3800 m above sea level, or go around the crater tour (about 5 hours) always attentive to the weather conditions and the morphology of the territory, in case of doubts rely on local guides. A recommendation ....... do not be unprepared, go to these places with a camera, it will be one of the best memories that will remain with you forever.
