Hotel Prado Internacional — Hotel in Loja

We stayed two nights in Hotel Prado in September 2014. The hotel is located in a busy street close to the city center. It is just a 5-10 minute walk from Loja's main tourist attractions (Plaza San Sebastian, Santo Domingo, Bolivar street, etc.) The staff was kind and serviceable however our room was far from agreeable. The room was not perfectly clean and a foul smell emanated from the bathroom. After a couple of complaints and a sincere effort from the staff to address the smell, we got another room, with no smells, but also with no windows and not quite clean.||||We had almost no hot water. The WiFi service was quite good, the connection had a good bandwidth and was stable. The breakfast service was mediocre but the view from the restaurant (sixth floor) was ok. On average, my impression is that the hotel is overpriced for the quality of service that they offer. Most likely, there are better options in Loja therefore I don't...

This is a small hotel but it has an old-world feel. The decor is many steps above the average US hotel. The bed was comfortable, bathroom nicely appointed, with plenty of hot water (not always the case in Ecuador). The desk person was friendly, personable, and eager to help. She had an older gentleman actually walk me to a nearby restaurant (so I wouldn't get lost), and he waited to make sure my restaurant bill was correct and that I got the right change. Better than expected! Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was nice (eggs cooked to order with toast, juice and coffee). The manager showed us four rooms and let us choose which one we wanted. We had a problem with the toilet and it was fixed within minutes. The staff was very nice and helpful. I was very happy that the WIFI worked very well. I was working while in Loja and needed good internet service. This hotel had better WIFI in the room than most of the chain hotels in the U.S. I was able to work from bed with a strong reliable signal. The location is walking distance from anything you need.
