Balandra Hotel — Hotel in Manta

I was very impressed with the Balandra Hotel (namely, the staff and the amenities), although I did not stay as a guest! My parents-in-law were visiting and stayed the week at the hotel. The first thing to comment on is how the staff at Hotel Balandra accommodated my parents-in-law by allowing them to check into their room a couple of hours early. Secondly, as a family (with 4 children under 8), we visited my parents-in-law nearly every day at the hotel and were warmly welcomed by the staff - from Daniel and Luis at the front to, to Maria Jose and Oscar, we were welcomed by all of the staff. I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities that the Hotel offers, specifically a small park for children. The park was a hit among our girls, with a trampoline, a play house, small ball-pit, hula-hoops and play cars (to name a few). The park was very well maintained, as well as the entire premise. With 4 little ones, bathrooms are a regular stop and Hotel Balandra seemed to offer a bathroom at every corner.

In summary, I was very impressed by the staff and amenities. The location was very ideal for my parents-in-law (right next to the mall - where there is a Mega-Maxi and a variety of restaurants & right next to la Playa Murcielago), who don't speak Spanish. Our stay at Hotel Balandra was absolutely wonderful! We spent two nights in one of their charming bungalow rooms, which was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with great amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring.

What truly made our experience special was the exceptional service from the staff, especially Maria Jose. She went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome, treating us like family and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Her kindness and attentiveness genuinely made our stay more enjoyable.

The hotel’s location is perfect—right in the city center, with the beach and shopping mall just a short walk away. Additionally, they offer a convenient shuttle service to the airport in Manta, which made our travel experience even smoother.

This was my first time in Manta and I stayed at the Balandra Hotel for 3 nights. The property exceeded my expectations. It is quite large and has really beautiful plantings throughout. The room itself was well equipped, clean, and something I really appreciated was the thick walls which made for great sleep. It was later explained to me that the founder of the hotel was an architect and specifically designed the hotel to withstand earthquakes and the thicker walls required to do so also lead to less noise transmission between rooms, nice, very nice. The breakfast was great also with lots of options and an amazing setting. Lastly the hotel staff was very friendly almost to a person really impressive you can tell management makes it a point to emphasize this I felt very welcome.
