Hotel Mar Azul — Hotel in Manta

Location and price are great. Breakfast is sad. If your budget is tight, eat for free. If you have some room to spend, go to the mall or anywhere else. Service is nice, employees themselves try to make you comfortable and are accommodating, but the rooms need some work. First not all Deluxe or double rooms are the same and there isn't a good differentiation of which rooms have what beds (size). Sheets and towels were poorly washed and not ironed - the pillows and the water smelled weird. There is poor water pressure, which makes washing your hair a chore. If more than one person is in any room, even a double, you need to request towels and toiletries. Laundry bag costs $5 (this was news to me), without the wash. Floors 🛍️ in the rooms seem to get swept but not mopped. Hotel needs to do some work and invest to create a better experience so that the rooms and food match...

We had to be at the Ministry of Migration in Manta for a morning meeting regarding our visas. Purely by accident, we had booked at this hotel not realizing the location and its proximity to our appointment - right across the street. Not only that, it was across the street from the HUGE Pacifico Mall and close to the beach. I walk with a cane so being this close to everything made our stay quite enjoyable. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the outdoor pool was clean and refreshing. Breakfast was filling although toast would have been nice. For some reasons, toast hasn't been on any hotel we have stayed at in Ecuador. We plan to make the hotel our Manta choice on our trips...

Our original booking with a different hotel had water damage and arranged our stay with Mar Azul. Lovely hotel with a gorgeous pool. The entrance is secured 24/7 so very safe. Nice landscaping and very welcoming. The reception area was neat and efficiently operated. There is not an elevator so steps to all the rooms. The rooms are very nicely decorated with two closets, desk w/ chair, microwave, mini fridge and an easy chair. Private bath with real hot water NOT a suicide shower.
