(I would just louose the first night if i knew it) ||||Hope they use this free cash to buy new fire heads for the kitchen, which were so old that the flame made all the pots black, and so the sponge when used to clean them, so you will eat the black carbon (cancer alert)||||they make nice parties there also for people outside the hostel, it is forbidden to move out the common areas for them but it is hard to keep the controll. Read moreI booked a bed in a triple on booking.com, but when I got to the hostel in the evening of my booked date I was given a bed in a 4 person bed with a mosquito net with huge holes in it and bugs in the bed! When I complained to the manager and asked why I was not given the room I had booked, he said that the room booking is not confirmed until I paid for it (even though booking.com doesn't take payment upfront for this hostel and I had a confirmation email from them!). I told them my main problem was the holes in the net and bugs in the bed. He told me to use the other bunk bed in the room which had the same problem. When I complain, he said there were no other rooms so take the bed or leave the hostel. Having just arrived in town at 9pm and a female solo traveller, where am I going to go? And why allow people to book a room if you are going to just give it away before they get there? He was totally unappologetic and dismissive... just rude! I'm usually pretty easy going about stuff but bugs in my bed coupled with dismissive rudeness where I draw the line. Not to mention the music that goes on until 1am and no sound protection at all in the rooms! Definately would not stay here again!...
Read moreWe booked (and paid for) a room weeks in advance and exchanged multiple emails with the owner. Confirmed it had AC, private bathroom and WIFI, and rate included surf lessons with “in house” surf teacher with transportation to the surf spot every day. When we get there they “lost” our reservation and payment, luckily we had receipts but they had given our room away. They put us in a room with no bathroom, no wifi, no AC, a torn mosquito net, and one half of an outlet that barely worked. They promised a partial refund for their mistake but when it came time for them to pay up the owner tried to argue the rooms were “the same” We are filing a complaint with booking.com. The shared bathrooms and kitchen are very dirty. The water was randomly turned off several times. The surf teachers were great but they are not in house, and there is no transportation to the surf spot unless you want to call a cab. The hostel staff is nice enough, and it was cheap but...
