😊: Hostal Mamacucha was my first ever hostel experience..... and one I know that will be hard to compare to others. As a young female traveling solo, I felt so safe and "at home" staying at Mamacucha. First, Colorado, the owner, ensures you feel at home and that you have everything you need. The volunteers at the hostel were fantastic, many of which grew to be my friends. The hostel offers many experiences- I visited incredible hot springs, went whale watching and scuba diving, played pool, watched movies, had fires on the beach, and enjoyed many meals with the volunteers and other travelers. A few times a week, Colorado offered shared meals, where all of the volunteers and guests were welcome to enjoy a meal together, for only $2-5 per person... and his cooking is amazing and made with love. The hostel is located a 1 minute walk to the beach, which is really nice if you like to swim, lounge on the beach, or surf (I took a few surf lessons then rented a surf board close to the hostel!) I would recommend this hostel if you are looking for something more tranquil, as Montañita is loud and filled with parties. Mamacucha feels like home, first and foremost because of the people I met here. But also because of how beautiful and calm it feels- it is filled with plants and so much greenery, so if you're a plant-lover, you will love this gem of a place. I could not recommend Hostal Mamacucha more. Cheers to the friends I made, the liveliness of the plants that surrounded me, the delicious meals I enjoyed, and the many adventures I embarked on! 10/10 experience... here's your sign to...
Read moreI stayed at Hostal Mamacucha for 8 nights and it was great! Perfect location in a pretty quiet area, but still just a few meters away from the vibrant center of Montanita and the beach, so it's excellent if you wanna enjoy the party life of the town but want to have some relaxing time as well! The atmosphere was very nice and chilled (if you wanna party, you can still choose to start the "previa" in one of the hostels next door ). The place is very cosy, nicely decorated and the rooms were comfortable. The team is great, and really makes you feel like you are family - so be careful, you will not want to leave! Colo, the owner is very enthusiastic and can give you good recommendations of things to do around, Elisa makes the best Mojito Fresa, cakes and breakfasts (and an excellent Vegetarian Burger!) and Marquitos will always be around to share a Mate (Argentinian tea) with you and have a chat :) Definitely a place to recommend for an authentic stay...
Read moreLow budget hotel with great athmosphere. Rooms are quite basic, but what else to expect for a very low budget price. There is a restaurant/bar/ meet-up area, where you get served a good breakfeast. Several drinks and limited snacks were available and basic meals (vegggie burger, pizza etc.) were one day available, the other day not. In my 6 day stay I could not fathom the rationale - if any - behind this. Must be my lack of proper understanding Spanish. The staff were great, extremely welcoming and cordial. Mind you: having a room on the ground means being close to the bar area. Nothing wild or very noisy, but a persistent Kumbaya-sphere with singers who could not sing, guitar players having mastered two accords (max), a ukelele ..... well you guessed it. For me somewhat unnerving, but I can understtand very well that many folks will be enthousiastic. The atmosphere is really...
